Red 7 you are facing a huge problem with your red glasses.
I never said that Sofo or Borousis are not good players. Or that Vougioukas is better than Borousis.

All i said is that YES Diamantidis would be a heavy loss. But the Greek NT is so good and there is so much talent to the players that they can substitute almost anyone.
And i remind you that we won the Bronze medal with out Diamantidis. Also we won silver medal in 05 with out Borousi. Sofo played few games in 05 WC and he wasn't our main center.

So where are my green glasses? I do support basketball not Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos is just the team i support.

Today our main center is Borousis not Shortsianitis.

      you can continue..
he spit on the guy after stealing the ball from Teodosic and scoring a basket that made the score 9-0

He was punched in the stomach, 1 minute after he was elbowed once and pushed away another time with no foul called by the same person, Tedosic.

Is that what you mean by not going well?

Apparently it's your loved one that had this "all isn't going well" situation

OK, you also said that Sofo and Bourousis were never key players of our NT. That is where I'm disagreeing with you. Sofo in 2006 was a very key player on our road to the final, and Bourousis for the past two years has been the starting center of Greece... so yes he is a key player...

In 2005 we won Gold in Belgrade.. and yes Bourousis was in the 12 players (although he never really played )

You were saying that Bourousis does not play as a pivot center... he has really improved on his pivoting in the past 1.5 years though! And Sofo only pivots to the extent that he becomes predictable.

As with your statement that we have the quality to be able to replace a few absences I agree to a certain extent... Players like Spanoulis, Sofo, Bourousis, Fotsis I think are not that easily replaceable.

Also, you said that Diamantidis is our most valuable player.. a statement that I don't agree with right now... two years ago I would have agreed with you.. but not now.

Diamantidis even when he don't score he play good defence. He can create for others and he has good passing abilities. All these things make him so necessary for Greek NT.

I would prefer to play with out Spanoulis instead of Diamantidis and that has nothing to do with what team i support.

But it was spanoulis who on his own won the bronze medal for greece last summer... do you think that Diamantidis today could offer the same??

I don't care if will be Spanoulis or Diamantidis as long as we win.
But if i was a coach and i had to choose one of them i would choose for Diamantidis. That's all i say.

Hopefully for us we have both.

Diamantidis cannot win games on his own, because his main strength is not offense.

Diamantidis can guarantee you that Greece will not concede more than 70 points per game (with the right formula always)
It's not his job to score 20-25 pts per game. His job is to be a great defensive presence against the main scoring threats of the opposition(who usually are guards or swingmen) and create for his teammates. If he's free for a three, he's shown us that he can do it and that's how we won the 2005 gold really.

Spanoulis' only great thing is his drive to the basket. His long range efforts are not better than Diamantidis. Diamantidis knows when to shoot, Spanoulis just shoots because he thinks he can make it. I'm not denying that this has paid off a lot of times, but you'll rarely see Diamantidis hit an airball which is not the case with Spanoulis.
And Spanoulis is usually a liability in defense, specially when Diamantidis pairs him up front in a zonal defense, or even being the first line of defense in a man-to-man defense.

Both are equally good in the pick & roll, can't decide on who's better, but Diamantidis' decision making is essential for any team, while Spanoulis lacks that skill (aka lots of turnovers)

They are not players you can compare with eachother.

The only interesting "matchup" I want to see is Calathes Vs Rubio. I think Calathes has performed a lot better than Rubio in the friendlies so far, and the game vs the USA is going to be the decisive moment. Rubio did very well vs USA, let's hope Calathes will do as well.
And I'm pretty sure that Calathes will have a better World Championship than Rubio, but it all goes down to luck and the fact that Calathes has strong competition, while Rubio is alone since Navarro is usually the 2nd guard.

I am very excited to see Greece-USA, and am happy to see Calethes, as a former Floriday Gator, and that is my home state.

I think Greek team will win, because their strength is exactly the USA weakness. We will see how the USA coaching staff plays defense against the penetration and pick-n-roll game of Greece.

After seeing them give up so many layups and dunks to Lithuania and Spain, I am not confident they can stop the Greeks.

you seem to forget he also spit on Golemac..
I guess he doesn't like guys from ex yugoslavia..
spitting once on a player could be bad temper and nervousness..
spitting twice on a player is a matter of idiotism..

                            You just said it yourself.

Once on Teodosic after 4 hits, one right before the spit incident(punch in stomach)
Once on Golemac (don't remember how the incident went)

Teodosic is a rare breed of as$h0les though

I think the only two countries certain to make it to the semis are Spain and the USA.

The other two teams could be anyone among Serbia, Argentina, Greece, Turkey and Lithuania. (My votes going to Serbia and Greece).
