okay they got back into their plane into the US but how do you know they wanted to receive there medals that very day. perhaps they took that plane back to the US back after all hey just received there medals and the organization of this tourney told them they would receive it that day. You have to also realize they live pretty busy lives frot heir team on an 82 game season ims ure their home teams want them back for preparation so if an opportunity knocks such as the tourney giving them their medal on that day why blame them and call them arrogant for that, most people would take that advantage @ that level of competition to go back so their prof team can get them back in the nix of things.

now if they did receive their bronze medal @ the request of that day then it is disrespect and i cant argue anything else, i jsut dont want people here to assume right away that the american basketball team is arrogant, and this word has been used a lot lately on these boards.. to say USA basketball is the only arrogant thing in the world is as hypocritical as the next person reading this/replying to it. i can admit @ times i am arrogant @ times but heck I am jsut as human as the next person and i dont tihnk anyone here is superior to anyone else

one more thing the guy who wrote this article should be bashing something else like getting the RP natl team coverage more than anything, as a Fil-Am our basketball org is in pretty bad shape no sense to bash on something else while he should be writing sometihng more positive criticism/or not about the political mess of the RP org.

it's funny how the "best team in planet" once again failed to show that..

              Thats what I thought.

Do you truly think Greece is a better team than the US? I mena can you honestly say that greece would beat the US more times out of ten than they woudl lose? Us missed 14 free throws, shot horribly, greece shot the best they could, won by 5. Greece failed to score 50 points in the championship game....did they play oone or two halves?

The time has come for Americans to learn to play international bball. American style bball is over. A lot of there players are playground players especially Lebron heck he can't even hit open shot a lot of times...

I was watching NBA greatest games in the 80's (Portland vs Seattle where ex-PBA import Billy Ray Bates scored 29 pts). NBA was a lot simpler back then (i mean basic, fundamentals) you don't see a lot of isolation or doing fancy crossovers or high flying dunks they just hit open shots....

playground player? nba style bball is over? sho why didnt internationals style bball occupy all top 3 spots. a bronze is low for the US, but many of those pointing to a bronze as failre to the US will never see thier country's even get close to that stature, so give it a rest.

failures in international bball are given excuses and never represent international bball, but success are claimed to represent everyone. the way you guys speak one would think every team in the WC won gold and silver and only the US won bronze

it seems that if US had won it would prove that its the best team in the world
but now that they lost they still are the best team in the world!

even though its the 3rd(!) consecutive loss in world competions US still rules
i wonder if US was still undefeated what would they say...

and i bet that even if they lose in the Olympics '08 they would still claim they are the best team... wanna bet?
i can imagine all the articles and the excuses for the upcoming US loss, probably in the semifinal... again

but maybe the next time US will prove their superiority...again lol

What I read in a Greek Newspaper and is attributed to coach K, but I don't have the original, neither the time to find it:

"I spoke to Trajan (Langdon - a Duke Alumni and CSKA player) and he told me that the Greeks have fantastic guards. What he didn't tell about the number 4 (Papaloukas) was that he is the MVP of Europe, he is 28 yrs old and 6" 6" and that he is making about 5-6 mil $ a year".

I really don't know if this true, can they really lack so much in scouting?. But if you add it to the rest I've read it shows the level of ignorance and or/arrogance...

i wouldnt consider it arrogance, ignorance yes if this is true, that jsut shows the lack of scouting and a shitty job on rudy tomjanovich's job in trying to scout
