It was the same in 2017 Eurobasket. Serbs were talking only about who they had missed, but were beaten in last minutes by Slovenia without Luka and Dragic.
No one is making excuses. Who wins-wins. 2017 was special and I think missing 9 players deserves at least a mention. It's also true that we played with injured Jovic that final and that Bogdan was completely gassed in the last two minutes, just like Dragic. But Slovenia deserved to win that particular game. We have so many players but it's clear who among them are essential for this team and who can be replaced.

    • Dennis is giving huge props to Avramovic in the interview as a competitor and fellow trash talker!

Luka twisted his ankle and was out in Q4, Dragic couldn't play because of the cramps. Saying you missed 9 players is disrespectful, you made the Final without those 9 players so you obviously had team good enough. The same goes for this year, you were pretty good the whole tournament, who knows, if you would have made the Final with different players.

You had on paper much better roster last year and we know how it ended.

        • After all I think that Dobric injury killed us.

He is not better player than Guduric but he has balls. The same like Aleksa.

By this logic you cannot say you miss Joker because he decided did not want to play. Again from a Bayern fan, ridiculous to count Lucic and Jaramaz as difference makers, fringe Euroleague players this coming season (I am talking about THIS OLD lucic, not him historically). You had them last year and what happened? If Jaramaz plays, Avramovic does not play, so I don't know... Pokusevski makes me laugh.
He apologised because of pressure from public, of course Kleber wasn't going to show up. Not like that. Jokic didn't want to, not because he wasn't desired. A big difference there.

Lucic's size would have been absolutely great for this team, his role with Serbian team is different than what he has to do with Bayern. Failed campaign in 2022 doesn't mean anything for new tournament, completely different energy.

            • Luckily we did not have any naturalised players. So of course all the talk is about who other teams missed.

Maybe even just Dobric not getting injured at the very start of the game. Losing a starting player like that man that is a huge psychological mismatch to get going.

Serbia missing 9 players and still making a close game was a fact, nothing disrepectful about that. Am I not allowed to mention it just because Slovenia won the game? If you can mention Luka's injury and Dragic's cramps, I think I can note that Serbia had a little bit more diffculties. That doesn't mean Slovenia didn't deserve to win. I'm pretty clear about this.

Last year is for last year. It's always like that. Different energy, more time with Pesic, more blending...But, like I said, I wouldn't change anything, this group of players deserved to play together whatever they do in the end.

Once again, completely deserved win for Germany.

                    • The only players I would definitely add to this Serbia team is Jokic & Micic. Otherwise all these players performed well through the tournament that it would be a shame to swap too many out.

As a young player in the NBA his development stream seems to be shoot first, think later. And don't worry much about defence.

Noting about roster issues before the tournament is ok, but after the Final game is just whining, even if you congratulate your opponent.

If Pokusevski can find a way to stay healthy, he can bring a lot of versatility to this team. Size, rim protection, help side defense, transition, shooting...everything what modern basketball requires. Kalinic is still an elite defender, it's a no brainer if he wants to play. Smailagic is also in this mix for future actions.

                            • Congrats Germany, well deserved! From what I've seen (not as many games as ussualy, but nevertheless) the best bball in the tournament.
The start of all this was seen 10, 15 years ago and now I believe we can confidently say that european basketball has gained a new "traditional powerhouse" that will be there for many years to come...

That's not whining, that's natural reaction. That's what you would do and everyone else. I bet you have thought countless times during this tournament how much Cancar and Muric would have been helpful for Slovenia in certain situations. It's not about discrediting the other team.
