Naturalization is an old topic, but IMO if the naturalized player can't speak the local language (or at least one local language) to a reasonably fluent degree, then it's considered cheating. Descent means absolutely nothing if there is no cultural connection, I don't care what the country's national law is.

And just because more countries cheat doesn't make it right.

Tyler Dorsey has been their naturalized player for years. This is either becuase they expect Dorsey will no longer play or they are hedging just in case he says no again like last summer and they have a fallback option. I thought their next naturalized player was going to be Naz Long, but he hasnt had a great season with Milan.

I'm curious to learn how far back Walkup's Greek hertiage goes, if there is any at all. Not that it matters, just curious.

As a Canadian fan, I'd like to say we are missing out on this naturalization party. I'm pushing our fanbase to call for Pascal Siakum to get his Canadain citizenship. But in all honesty Canada benefits from a few players who are really Americans but have a Canadian parent and are not considered naturalized, becuase they were smart enough to get their paperwork in before age 16. But still, we have a naturalization spot waiting to be filled....

...perhaps it is filled by Aden Holloway a Top 10 2023 highschool propespect that we found out has a Canadian parent only a couple weeks ago. I don't think he got his citizenship documents before age 16 (not sure yet), so he could be our naturalized player of the future (if he is good enough). He represented Canada at the Nike Hoops Summitt and he says he wants to play on the U19 team this summer at the World Cup....we shall see...
Walkup has no any Greek lineage, but played so many years in Olympiacos in Greek League, while Dorsey is currently Naturalized, But he has Greek blood because his mother is a Greek... Dorsey also has announced his participation in this summer's FIBA WC... It will be hard for coach Itoudis to pick who among those two will be fit... Honestly, Canada doesn't need to take naturalized player/s if those all NBAers from Canada will commit, Although if i were coach Nurse, I will talk to Canadian basketball federation to take Siakam as their NP, Since Wiggins might not commit long term to Canada basketball, They should have a back up plan and Siakam is the best choice, He was loved by Canadian basketball fans by the way...

Is Kyle Anderson by the way can speak Chinese? It's already almost a done deal that China wants Anderson's services and even Chairman Yao always have communication with him... On a basketball perspective, He's a good fit since most of Chinese wingmen are always injured such as Ding Yanghuang and Abudushamalu Abudurexiti.... Although if they want a good fit naturalized, A combo guard is better fit for them....

Dorsey...Greece doesn't need Walkcup if Calathes in. Even if Calathes out, you can go with Sloukas at 1 and Greece desperately needs shooters. So Dorsey is much better fit. The problem with Dorsey in EB was that he started great, but then got the slump. So when Greece went against Germany in 4finals, shooting was the problem. Germany shot the ball well, while Greece struggled.

Another news is that De Collo wants to represent France again and obviously that's great news for them.
LTU NT will snatch Eurobasket 2029 title with this roster:

          Jokubaitis, Marciulionis, Laurencikas
          Indrusaitis, Brazdeikis, Rubstavicius
          Buzelis, Lelevicius
          Murauskas, Sirvydis
          Tubelis, Krivas

8 days left but until now FIBA not announcing the POT procedure... I don't know why they taking it so long? While that's good news for France by the way... Although France are more focus on how they can secure Wembayanma and Embiid for 2023 and 2024... France have tug of war with US for Embiid's services while French federation needs to have agreement with the team who will select Wemby at the NBA... Most of NBA teams didn't allow their rookies to participate in non NBA activities to protect their investment on their selected rookies....

Absolute garbage move with Walkup and just hoping it did happen only to make things easier for Oly in the Greek league, regarding the foreigner quota. Won't be watching if he ends up playing with the team.

Why are you against him? Because he has no connection to Greece?

More or less, basically he was asked by a journalist if he'd like to play for the Greek Nt long time ago and he responded "I'm American". Which means he never intented to do so but got a big contract from Oly recently, I think him obtaining a Greek passport was into the contract..

Walkup came to Olympiakos in the summer of 2021, so he has been playing in Greece for less than 2 years. Do you think this is enough? If so, Mike Batiste should be considered Greek for having played 10 years to Panathinaikos!

FIBA announced the draw procedures today.
Pots 1/3/5/7 and Pot 2/4/6/8 are grouped together and AUS/NZL are considered Oceania for geo balancing (not Asia).

                      Here are the draw possibilities:

Yes. So it could be flawed and I ask you to point anything you disagree with. Such as I now see that IRN can't be in Pool E (Japan).

Kerr and Grant Hill has stated to have included Jaren Jackson, Desmond Bane and Alex Caruso for sure. Others who may likely make it are KD (who previously pronounced that he will be ready for call- up, another motivation is to cement cement his legacy as all- time leading Team USA scorer), Beal(an international veteran), Trae Young, T.Haliburton. Don’t count out Jalen Green, Hill will probably phone him knowing what he has to offer for US team. The Filipino crowd will root for them and Green will fill that need as he is quite popular among Filipino fans. Reportedly, Kerr offered captainship to Embiid if he choose to don Stars and Stripes jersey.

But we have to remember, Greece needs a guy that will help Giannis, especially on offense... That's why having that more options is should be consider.... Both are good players anyway.... What do you think about Greece's chances anyway? I hope they will be group in Philippines' group... a guarantee 2nd round stint indeed there....

FIBA already announced the draw procedure, POTS 1,3,5,7 are the possible groups while another Group will be in POTS 2,4,6,8... Very lucky for POT 2 teams since they have easily draws out there, POT 4 is weaker than POT 3 (only Canada is the tough team in POT 4) while POT 6, Only Latvia is the tough team out there.... unlucky for POT 1, they will be facing a tough POT 3 teams and also very tough POT 5 with KAT led Dominican Rep. and Markannen's Finland... This is not balanced draw for me, I think....
