Actually he currently playing with broken finger, but even with that he's planning to represent Lithuania. I kinda expect him being completely loyal. Besides, we have "baby Sabonis" in Tubelis as some call him. In few years Tubelis will be legitimate piece at 5.
This.

Well, Germany today in basketball scene is much stronger than 2000's era w/ Dirk... With having multiple talents in their program plus some of German NBA players are real contributors and not fringe.. They have a real chance to get a medal in upcoming summer event.... Only the draw will determine who will get the easiest path to the medal rounds and who will get unlucky due to "Group of death" scenario....

It seems Karl Anthony Towns echoing his statement about his participation and he will join his Dominicana teammates afterall.... w/ him in the line up, Dominican Republic will be the dark horse team in upcoming summer event... Very dangerous to some teams who will possibly will be groupmates with them in upcoming draw....

I hear unofficial news that there probably will be changes for the FIBA World Cup draw. Groups now will be made from Pots 1-3-5-7 and 2-4-6-8. (It used to be 1-4-5-8 and 2-3-6-7). Main reason is the large amount of European teams in Pots 2, 3 and 6.
Seems a little strange as this now puts too many Asian teams (6) in 1-3-5-7 and two will need to move pots. Perhaps becuase they are in the lower pots (7 and 8) it is less impactful.
The previous fix was to move LAT and DOM between Pots 5 and 6 and COT/LEB between 7 and 8.
This new method seems to balance out the pools somewhat - in particular making Pool A not so horrible.Last edited by mojo13; 04-14-2023, 05:58 PM.

Here is how it would look going with Pots 1-3-5-7 and 2-4-6-8

Again - please point out any mistakes I'm making here.
Note: I switched Jordan and Japan down to Pot 8 and Egypt and South Sudan up to Pot 7 to make this work. Not sure if FIBA will do that to host Japan, but I see no other way.
Also Note: I have ESP and BRA in brackets, because BRA will need to follow to where ESP is drawn. There are other situations like this but with multiple variables and too complex to map out. This one seems obvious pre-draw and I thought it worth noting.

Or maybe 1,3,6 & 8 then 2,4,5 & 7 are much balance... no need to transfer Jordan and Japan to another POT... The scenario would be this:
POT 1 POT 3 POT 6 POT 8
PHL GRE CHN LIB
USA ITA LAT EGY
ESP GER MEX SSD
AUS BRA GEO CPV
POT 2 POT 4 POT 5 POT 7
FRA CAN IRI JOR
SRB VEN FIN JPN
SLO MON DOM ANG
LTU PUR NZL CIV
Well balanced between brackets from Asia/Pacific, Europe, Americas and even in Africa and no more transfer of teams to another POT to avoid some clarification just like what happened in 2019 when Canada and Iran change POTS...

Tyler Dorsey has been their naturalized player for years. This is either becuase they expect Dorsey will no longer play or they are hedging just in case he says no again like last summer and they have a fallback option. I thought their next naturalized player was going to be Naz Long, but he hasnt had a great season with Milan.
I'm curious to learn how far back Walkup's Greek hertiage goes, if there is any at all. Not that it matters, just curious.
As a Canadian fan, I'd like to say we are missing out on this naturalization party. I'm pushing our fanbase to call for Pascal Siakum to get his Canadain citizenship. But in all honesty Canada benefits from a few players who are really Americans but have a Canadian parent and are not considered naturalized, becuase they were smart enough to get their paperwork in before age 16. But still, we have a naturalization spot waiting to be filled....
...perhaps it is filled by Aden Holloway a Top 10 2023 highschool propespect that we found out has a Canadian parent only a couple weeks ago. I don't think he got his citizenship documents before age 16 (not sure yet), so he could be our naturalized player of the future (if he is good enough). He represented Canada at the Nike Hoops Summitt and he says he wants to play on the U19 team this summer at the World Cup....we shall see...Last edited by mojo13; 04-18-2023, 04:41 PM.
