  • The respectful and humble reaction of Spanish IB posters makes me even more happy for Spain winning this championship. A great sports nation.

First because I dont like the character of some players especially Rudy. Second I dont like their dirty game when the games get close at the midth of the 3rd quarter. I know its a legitimate part of the game and its the opponents failure if they loose their concentrations and focus especially since Spain is well known for this strategy for years now. However this does not mean that I have to like that. I cheer with Serbia when they win because of their high level of basketball technique and high quality players like Bogdanovic. I support even Turkey when they have success. I am impressed by the progress of Finnlad and the Czech Republic. I have respect to Lithuania. But I hate Spain. At the end its a matter of personal taste. I just dont like them. But as I said this will not change the fact that they are the most succesful team in Europe the last 15 years.

I get this vibe as well. The amount that they have achieved, and yet you can't find any Spanish being boastful. Maybe it has something to do with the regional identities (Catalans, Basque etc). I have no idea, only speculating. I generally find any Spanish speakers really chilled out.

Also, I would rather see Spain in this position then say Germany or France as the larger European countries.

Well, can't speak for anyone but myself, but I must say there's not much to boast about. We got a lucky draw, we had a clear path to the semis, other top candidates failed without much intervention from our side, those who had a chance to beat us missed it... Maybe Luc Longley was right

I mean, even though it's not really my style, after 2009 or 2011 Eurobaskets I could have claimed that we were the top team in Europe, no one could beat us, moped the floor with everyone else, no competition... childish stuff, but with a grain of truth. This year, though? No way. Anyone who had followed the tournament knows Spain wasn't the best team. If we restarted the competition tomorrow, surely we would end up with a different champion. We will have to wait until the Olympics though.

Just one question, did you support Yugoslavia with Divac, Danilovic, Drobnjak ...? Were you too young maybe?

That was "dirty game" in all its splendor.

Just to point we learnt from the bests.
