Yeah it was well done. My favorite line is that prior to 1994 tournaments the USA had previously sent college players and factory workers. Factory workers ! I couldn’t stop laughing.

AAU/NIBL (Industrial League) teams topped college selections in several US basketball trials. Olympic, WC and Pan Am teams regularly had AAU players until 1968. At a time when NBA salaries were not so appealing, several high level collegians decided to join AAU keeping their amateur status. ABL pros (1961-end 1962) took over a couple of Industrial League teams and finally, when ABA became the legitimate second pro league in 1968 the AAU system collapsed.

AAU/NIBL teams often outperformed college selections in various U.S. basketball trials, with Olympic, World Championship, and Pan American teams frequently including AAU players until 1968. Back then, NBA salaries were less enticing, prompting many elite college players to maintain their amateur status by joining AAU teams. The ABL professionals briefly took control of a few Industrial League squads, and when the ABA became the recognized second pro league in 1968, the AAU system ultimately disintegrated.
