  • Melih Tunca with a very good offensive game today. According to the box score he has made 6 assists but three clear passes couldnt be turned into assists so in fact he had 9 assists today. Additionally he contributed 13 points on top in 23 minutes.

His overall game looks promising. He is still too weak and too slow thinking on the defensive end but he deals with pressure very well and finds his open man easily when he gets doubled. BBIQ and game reading is also superb. His game is steadily growing. He just needs to get stronger and a bit faster.

    • Amazing game from Ziyaettin. He is a pure shooter. I do not know we have a similar Turkish player. He plays like American guards or Dragic. He is unique for us and his development is really important.

      • VMI PG Tan Yildizoglu showed a scoring burst in the last 3 games. Of course his conference cant be considered comparable to pro level but I can say that his game has grown to a useful level. He controls everything on the court for his team and his style and strengths is similar to Nunez despite having shown anything on pro level.

I think he could already play for a solid FIBA CL or a Eurocup team and will have a shot for EL in some years.

In his last game he had 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists again. He can really pass and handle the ball. The shot needs work.

He will never play real minutes againgst european competition. It would be great for him if he could play in the turkish second division in his prime. For more he has not the potential.

When will end the dreams about Tan Yildizoglu, Salih Altuntas, Mete Pacaci etc. ?

His game is more suited to Europe but he could end up being an exceptional passer and we know how special bigs with court vision and passing abilities are. I have been watching youth tournaments for more than 20 years and this 2009 generation could be with the highest ceiling. In any case they are among the top 3.

The 2004 generation was a rock solid defensive team but offense was really weak. This team has offense and defense and probably two NBA prospects.
Demir Ozturk is not a big. He is a 3/4 but the bad thing is, he has enough size for U16 to play big but he could not show this against 5-6 cm shorter serbian player + Demir Ozturk is already mature. He is still interesting, high IQ with special shooting talent like Omer Ege Ziyaettin.

I only watched the serbian game. It should not be a surprise if Omer Alp Elitas(PF/C) is the best prospect after Omer Kutluay and Carutasu. A totally raw and unmature(physically + game wise) but even at this stage very productive player + big potential for versatile offense like Omer Alp can only get better.

            • Melih Tunca is without any doubt the best prospect in the Turkish BSL. His minutes dropped after Speedy Smith was signed but TT Ankara lacks BBIQ so he finds his minutes and delivers solid minutes. Offensively, he wiped out all my concerns. He has enough ball handling skills to secure the ball. I am not talking about his current state though. He is not showing any talent to create long range shots but he makes the open ones with solid percentages.

Amazing pick and roll feeling, pass quality is superb, mid range shots will fall later with high percentage. Defense needs work. Not a very diligent worker on the defensive end. I just dont want to see him with Mahir Agva. OMG this guy gives me cancer.

I only care about guards who can pass and make plays with a certain offensive output.

Sarper David Mutaf is offensively very talented and I see a Sloukas in him in terms of making plays. He will be the main target of the bigger clubs for the next season. Fenerbahce should chase him but the team is so full packed that I dont know where to park him. One more year with a lot of playing time would help him a lot.

I am not so in in the Turkish BSL anymore. Lack of young players drained my interest but the struggle of Karsiyaka roused my interest. Yalin Yildiz is a very interesting prospect and also Ozan Yilmaz shows some talent.

              • Our U14 NT has a guy of Real Madrid. This guys name is Joshua Zilberman. First I thought of a foreigner who has lived in Turkey but one part is seemingly Turkish. Actually a Turkish jew but born and raised in Turkey.

                • I watched both of Omer Kutluay's matches with Real Madrid. The first one was against Zentro Basket and Zalgiris. Without further ado, I want to write something about what I liked and what I didn't like. The greatest qualities of Omer Kutluay are definitely his elite field vision and decision-making mechanism.

He can see everywhere at any moment of the game and pass the ball to the teammate in the best position. Sometimes he even throws it to places I can't see while watching. On the other hand, he also knows very well when to shoot and when to attack the basket. Especially the rebounds that fall in front of him when he receives the ball, he can quickly get rid of pressure and make the best decision. Most of the time, all that is left for the big players is to leave the ball to the basket. Mid-range shots from the dribble will be one of his biggest weapons in the future. He is resistant when going to the basket, but he often cannot leave the balls that should be easy to leave.

Of course, one of the main reasons for this is his thin physique and his deterioration in contact. I can say that this is the biggest deficiency in his game. I can say that he can easily reach good places around the basket with his ball control, agility and quick first step. Another aspect of his game that he needs to improve is his three-point shot. shots. He is definitely not a bad three-point shooter and has a high level of finger sensitivity but his shots are too short. I attribute this to a lack of strength and I have no doubt that he will improve in the future. He is a player who can defend many positions in defense and lock everyone down but his ball defense and off-ball defense are both very good. His hands are always in the passing channels and he can read the game well in defense, but he may still have difficulty against fast guards one-on-one. Let's come to expectations. I can say that the best of the current guards we have is Omer Kutluay.

The long-term expectation is NBA despite the minor question marks, but he may have some deficiencies, especially in terms of defense. Although his first step is not bad, he may have difficulty finishing at the basket. I think the most important thing is to move up to Real Madrid and play in the Euroleague for a year or two (like Doncic). I think he is the greatest point guard potential of Turkiye. He played very well in both matches, especially the Zentro match. He offered good shots to his team, knew how to adjust the tempo of the match well, made very correct decisions. He pleased. He is the best in his team.
