The U-16 team is in Macedonia to play preparation games with Spain, Macedonia and Israel. We lost the first game against Israel by 83-58 (Kara 15, Doğan 7, Aksu 5). We are full roster, unacceptable. Almost every opponent in preparation period had walking in the park type of games against our team.

This '06 generation is among the worst ones we ever had. Demir Doğan should have focused on his basketball, instead of finding ways to escape from Beşiktaş. The kid doesn't have one single good game in 7 games played since the beginning of summer. He is totally out of shape, leave alone being the best Turkish prospect, he is barely in Top-10 for me if he continues to display low performances in U-16 EC aswell. This kid's family and agent eat him up. After a wasted season in shitty Macedonian team's second team, he is having problems with his contracted team and now we all see the outcome. Turning into garbage more and more because of non-basketball issues flying around him.

He can be a special player, I don't want to cross his name out, but he should cease all the negativity around him and start to focus on his game immediately. He is a rare gift. I don't expect much from him in the official tournament, but few glimpses that give hope for the future wouldn't be bad.

The results of this 06 generation are the worst we saw ever but we can´t call a generation with Demir Dogan, Yagiz Aksu, Ege Akcay as a weak generation, what matters is always only potential. I watched the Croatia game last week, Demir Dogan scored 17 points but played like shit, he did nothing, he showed zero interest. He just doesn´t playing bb, maybe this was yesterday different and will be in the U16 EC as well different. Oguz Kaan Yarkut(SG/SF, Cankaya Ankara) is an interesting prospect too. Eren Karakaya(PF, Besiktas) is interesting too but not in team, maybe he is injured.

Samet Yiğitoğlu had a bad tournament overall. Couple of good games against weak opponents don't count at all. NBA possibility is too hard for him, he didn't show anything special expect few flashy footworks. The things that he took away from team game when he is on floor overweighted the things he brought off heavily. The team was mostly at minus when we insisted upon his post-up games. He appeared to struggle against the physical guys. He was be thrown off by Almansa and Krivas, they totally outplayed him. I also didn't like his feel for the game one more time. He forces too much when there is a crowd in painted area. He needs to play a lot of games to improve his area control. Starting to playing basketball at relatively old age strikes him a lot with his decision making. He still doesn't know when to pass, when to react, when to force.

Few positives in his game, it can be said he has diverse range of post-up moves, he showed offense is improvable in time and size is adequate to have a place in high level basketball if he can overcome few of the problems I mentioned above. Realistic forecast is being starter in mid-tier Turkish team. I was expecting a stronger performance from him. Basketball has changed and old-school bigs' importance bottoms out and if these type of players can't be too dominant with the way they play, top level basketball can only be dream for them.

This incoming season will be decisive for his career path. Hope he turns this account.

Samet Yigitoglu indeed had a bad tournament overall but we dont need him to take over right now. He has the tools to become a proper center in Europe. I think its too early to give him an evaluation right now. He needs to grow in his frame and play more against stronger opponents. The team also couldnt help him stretching the floor. He is effective on one vs one but he causes too many TOs when he has no space and help comes quickly after grabbing the ball. Its also important to give him the ball in the right position.

The Ukrainian-Turkish player Misha Mikail Atakan ('08) stands out in this generation. Very crafty, talented guy. His terms with ball is already great. Due to his size, he was playing as C in local championships, but even if he doesn't grow height considerably, he can switch to other positions easily. He can beat his opponents one-on-one and has outside shoot (Shooting mechanism is good). I don't assign a position for a growing youth, but I got a great forward vibe from this guy.

I am pleased with what I have seen from this '08 generation so far. So many improvable players. Bahçeşehir College has been doing a good job with its youth setup recently. They invest on right players. Having top-notch Turkish prospects like Üstün ('07) and Atakan ('08) means much for them. Though, Atakan transferred from Beşiktaş last year.

I dont watch kids at that age but watching highlights of him I am really pleased. He looks like a natural talent.

He is ethnic Ukrainian. His father is great Olympic swimmer Vladimir Nikolaychuk (Volkan Atakan) who acquired Turkish citizenship and working as a coach in Turkish Swimming Federation and Fenerbahçe since 2006. Mikail was born in İstanbul, so he is not a naturalized one.

I don´t know why Yagiz Aktas(PF/C, 06, Bahcesehir) was not in the last tournament, maybe injured. This kid could help the U16 NT. His potential is questionable because an oldschool, small(but very long arms), slow big but very efficient. International competition is difficult, we must see and Efes´ coach is trying involve too much Efes´ players in this team. No Derin Can Üstün(07, PG/SG) and no Kaan Onat(07, SG/PG), very good, they have enough time. Both are way above turkish standards.

The 2009 born big Emir Karabulut was signed by Barcelona. He is 209cm right now and looks very mobile. Good luck, young kid.

Yigit Hamza Mestoglu was loaned to a third league club named La Roda in Spain. Its a village with 15.000 inhabitants just 1,5 hours away from Murcia. There is nothing that could deceive him so its a good place to concentrate on bb. He is known for his excellent defense on Murauskas against Lithuania with the U18 NT. He has a very strong body but is still limited offensively. For being an option for the NT the shot must fall constantly.

Kerem Kuthan Konan has declared he doesnt want to play for Besiktas anymore. According to his agent University of Connecticut wanted him which is one of the best basketball programs in the US but in case they dont want him anymore they are negotiating with MEGA Leks team.

It's a trend that several talented turkish prospects wearing the 13. Okben(former prospect), Demir Dogan and Derin Can Üstün.
