  • Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't mind reading the longer story some time!

So you think it's been more those issues with Turkish young players in general (attitude, work ethic, luck with injuries) rather than something in the coaching or other factors that has stifled creative guards in particular?

The problem starts in the childhood. Turkish moms are too soft with their children. They are like moving electrons always takes the path with less resistance so they normally give up too early or have a wrong picture about themselves. Coaching is surely another point where we have to improve but the main problem is the attitude are the kids and their character.

Listened to Efe Tahmaz mom who is the U16 girls coach of Partizan himself about her experience in Serbia. She said the Serbs can only dream of our possibilities in Turkey but they have the advantage of how to raise a kid to be disciplined and hard.

The guard problem especially is the problem of not letting the guys play. Turkish elite clubs have no time and patience to let make mistakes and the problem so far was the kids stayed too long there and lost precious time for development.

But Akay, Ilyasoglu and Kücük made all three the right step. Not happy about Ilyasoglu though but he is at least playing this season but a horrible defender, reminds me a bit of Teodosic.

      • First vid from the KLS and indeed this league is really semi professional but watching and comparing Akay with his early days he indeed improved a lot. His jumper looks very clean and he also takes shots off the dribble

        • I´m very excited to see these 5 players because they should have more potential as Demir Dogan(PF). Demir Dogan is the best turkish prospect and could end up as a potential like Pokusevski, but not much oriented like act like a G, more like a scoring PF. For turkish bb it´s not very likely to produce skillfull bigs like this but thanks Bandirma we have some hopes...

It will be interesting to see how this corona show effect the 04-07 generations because in our country this show is even bigger as in europe and our kids will play their first games after this corona joke maybe in next summer, this will mean that our 04-07 generations are 1,5 years without 1 game.......

Coach Ahmet Kandemir of Besiktas says he will let play 2 14 years old kids, he means of course Demir Dogan(PF) and Yagiz Aksu(G)

          • 26. Denver Nuggets: Alperen Sengun (Besiktas, C, 2002)

At 18 years old, Sengun has emerged as the leading scorer of a Turkish BSL squad that features former NBA talent, draft picks and quality European pros. His game doesn't quite check the modern-day center box, but Sengun has been dominant inside 15 feet with his craftiness, footwork and touch.
Scouts sound pumped about a 2021 NBA draft class that appears on the verge of delivering multiple All-Stars to the league. And that's with most evaluators still waiting to see the G League Ignite, who started scrimmaging a month ago...

Bleacher counts my boy Sengün as a late first round pick already. I never wanted him to enter the NBA but he made an insane jump in athleticism. I still hope we see him in Euroleague for a couple years but Sengün learning from Jokic especially in terms of passing is also quite interesting for the Turkish BB.

Top 3 Europeans in the 2021 draft are

            1. Roko Prkacin, born November 2002, very versatile wing, has shooting potential but also his biggest weakness right now.

            2. Alperen Sengün, born Auguste 2002, very energetic big with soft touch around the rim and high motor. Has some question marks on his defensive role in the NBA

            3. Usman Garuba, March 2002, versatile defender with offensive potential, not a big fan of him but hell be drafted for sure.

            Guys like:

Ariel Hukporti, Juhann Begarin ( maybe) Azuolas Tubelis should be second round picks.

            • There's no way Sengun is higher than Garuba, LOL. Even if Sengun looks tremendous for 18yo, he looks like an early bloomer, traditional bruiser who will face obvious defensive flaws in the NBA, with somewhat limited ceiling as prospect (high floor though). Garbuna is most highly treated prospect in 2021 drafts, his defensive versatility, athleticism, fundamentals, intriguing offensive upside which is FAR from complete makes him clearly No.1. Some have him among top five picks. Second goes Prkacin, he's a big stud, but has some issues shooting frees, and at D end as well. Those 2 are best Euro prospects for 2021.

God knows who's then...could be Sengun (I see him as late first rounder), could be Alocen or Jokubaitis, Hukporti, french guys Begarin or Strazel (Jesus, how much prospect power France have? It's ridiculous). I think Tubelis will declare for 2022 drafts.
LTU NT will snatch Eurobasket 2029 title with this roster:

              Jokubaitis, Marciulionis, Laurencikas
              Indrusaitis, Brazdeikis, Rubstavicius
              Buzelis, Lelevicius
              Murauskas, Sirvydis
              Tubelis, Krivas

              • Ulubay is no longer member of FMP. They said now on Arena sport before game FMP - Mega that they weren't satisfied with him and it seems that contract was canceled in mutual agreement. He already is in Turkey right now so we can expect him to play in Turkish league rest of the season (I just suppose, it seems most logical).

I dont care at all when they get drafted or not. Its just a list to show the month they were born and my success potential in the NBA. They all are different type of players with different strength and weaknesses

This is typical Ulubay move but its great that I can watch him now. He is a high problem guy and will always be like this.

                    • Anadolu Efes recruited a '07 born guy from Kyrgyzstan named Umar. Already 2.00 m and playing as C. I had a chance to watch him for 5 minutes, he was way ahead of the rest of the guys on the court with his incredible mid-range shooting skill.

He will be granted Turkish citizenship. Hopefully he will be a great acquisition for Turkish basketball.
Sports is not only considered as a superiority of physical capability. Perception, intelligence and morality assist it as well. The strong with less intelligence and comprehension can not cope with the less strong but with sufficient intelligence and comprehension. I like the sportsman who is intelligent, agile as well as morally upright.

                        • Another solid game yesterday evening by Mert Akay. 23 Points (4/7 from three), 8 rebounds and 14 assists and just 3 TO and 2 steals.

Btw. ZOC was watching the game of Dynamic last week. It was said he wanted to observe Gregor Glas and Mert Akay. Idk if its true but he was there

                              • Hazer is such a plus defender and a great athlete. He just needs to choose his shots more carefully and must work on his ball handling skills then in two years so I assume we have another EL contributor.

Hazer with 16 points 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

And Sengün again with 23 Points, 17 rebounds (7 offensive), 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. He finished the game with 39 PIR and turned the ball over twice.
