  • Tofas also burried Badalona at home. No sign of living from the great Prepelic, just 2 points the whole game. Nearly all turkish players have contributed very well.

Especially a very good defensive game of Durmaz (great step up this season) but a big time game was again played by Muhsin Yasar.

Great contribution of the turks in Eurocup level.

This is just one factor of several. Another big factor is time. If you keep working diligently you start contributing with 22/23 (if you are a late bloomer). Economics just forced the teams to look at the bench and it worked. Our money/success ratio is great. Thanks to bandirma, Karsiyaka and Tofas Bursa.

The next step is not the most difficult one. The gap between Eurocup to Euroleague is big but the jump to the turkish euroleague teams are even bigger. Some guys who have the talent to deliver in euroleague must start with smaller Euroleague teams like Munich, Zalgiris or Oly. Some have the talent some dont. We will see.

        • Mert Akay is struggling in Dynamic, as I mentioned in the preseason. I didn't like that rotation there and I had a feeling it will hurt him. He has played only 1 game in two month, few days ago and he has lost his starter status, now he is coming off the bench. Kid is a turnover machine, awful shooting and scoring in general.

Unfortunately, Ulubay had a really significant drop in form after an excellent first half of the season. He has lost his spot in the rotation as a starter, and last 4 games this month he came off the bench, reduced minutes and role. A real pitty...

          • So i had a first serious look at our 2004 born U16 team in the TBF international U16 tournament. Tomorrow are the last games.

I want to write a bit about couple guys who impressed me during the tournament. I watched all of the games.

Ege Tan Yildizoglu, born 01.01.04, position PG:

strength: has a great speed and feeling for the ball, could out dribble anyone and finds the open man in high speed. He gives me real joy during games. Defense is not bad.

weaknesses: shooting but mechanics seems ok. Decision making could maybe be a problem in the future.

Efe Tahmaz, born 03.04.2004, position small forward, length 198, current team Partizan Belgrade.

strength: above average passer especially for a forward, basketball intelligence is very high, can do everything on the court to a certain degree. Shooting is slow but good, makes almost always the right decision, knows when to finish or pass. He has great fundamentals. We really have to thank the Serbs, an experienced eye can immediately recognize the Serbian signature in his game.

weaknesses, weak body, lack of intensity, lack of strength.

Eray Büyükcangaz, born 01.01.04, position PG, length 200+cm, current team Karsiyaka:

Strength: good ball control for his size, can handle the ball very well, his huge wingspan allows him to finish at the rim, has the potential to be a great defender, very active hands to steal the ball from the opponent, uses the open court very well due to his speed, passing is ok for.

Weaknesses: Decision making, forces the game from time to time too much, shooting is there but streaky.

Berke Büyüktuncel born September 04, can play both forward positions, length 200+ cm, current team Tofas Bursa:

strength: speed in combination with size/power. Very enthusiastic guy who can guard all four positions, even Murauskas looked smaller than him. He puts the ball very well for his size and has a good wingspan which allows him to protect the rim. Plays more with his passion and not with his brain. High intense guy.

weaknesses: doesnt know well when to stop dribbling for the last two steps, finishing at the rim in open court looks a bit weird. He is still very raw but also very young. Shooting is streaky. He has a really weird jump shot.

Considering his skill set he reminds me of Cedi Osman. Similar strength, similar weaknesses. He probably will become taller than Cedi.

Berke Büyüktuncel is named mvp of the tournament.

Turkey won the TBF U16 tournament, Russia is second and LTU is third.

Altough Büyüktuncel became MVP the best player was Murauskas in this tournament. Great prospect.

                • Great win for Dynamic in the Serbian league against Nepredak (what a nice name in terms of sounds good)

Akay played 25 minutes coming of the bench and made a double double with 10 points and 10 assists and 4 rebounds and one big steal at the end in addition. On the bad side he made 4 turnover again, Akay needs to work on his free throw shooting and his jump shots. I am a strong believer of this kid.

Thats why i supported his Serbia adventure because i knew he would get a serious responsibility in crunch times. His steal 1 minute before end forced a unsportsmanlike but he could only made 1 of 2 and got his fifth foul 10 seconds before end.

Okben Ulubay on the other hand overcome his drought period of the last month and carried his team with 26 points 3 rebounds and 3 assists to overtime. He had 6/14 three pointer. I think he forced the last 2 ones. 2/3 three pointer 4/5 free throw but the team lost at the end to cedevita.

I am happy for both of the guys.

                  • I have never seen a better PG-performance from a turkish PG than U15 player Özgür Cengiz. This kid has amazing talent, just crazy talent but he is not very interesting for me because he is PG(most difficult position), very small(170+) and too young. He is Gelisim Koleji player, best place for young players, next year U19 league and then 2nd division etc.

Berkay Dönmez(SF) is the most important prospect in the 05 generation for TBF at this stage. Therefore he was the main ballhandler in the beginning of the tournament. He could only show his potential in the last game.

Kaan Berk Tarla(SG) is good but mature.

Alp Sarikaya(SG) has very big upside if he grows.

Tolga Öz(PF) is just 195. Before 14 months he moved to Efes because Efes expected that he will reach 205-210. Very talented player but too small for PF.

Evren Demirci(PF/C) is solid but Mehmet Efe Demirel(PF/C) & Halil Ibrahim Aksoy(C/PF) are the bigs with upside in the 05 generation, both are very interesting players and in 1-2 years both could reach another level.

Tolga Öz & Mehmet Efe Demirel don´t get any playing time in Efes. That shows again, for Efes is player development not important.

We could also see the great talent of Demir Dogan & Emin Kara, but they are too young.

                    • Bandirma beat in the last game of the CL group and Sengün my god what can you say about this guy? He had 11 points 5/5 of his two pointer with 11 points, 4 rebounds, one assist and one block with 17 years. There is only one slight problem. He sometime causes offensive fouls because he is too heavy but he got way faster than he was one year ago.

Hell become a multilevel scorer when he gets an outside shot. He is a gem.

This Erkan Yilmaz is a bum. Yeah his moves looks great, he is athletic and hustles but he is useless in set offense. He cant pass, he cant shoot, he is a turnover machine.

Hazer is kinda a headless chicken sometimes, he runs towards the rim without thinking and reading the game. His one on one capacity is an advantage but he needs to gain weight and choose the right time. He is beside Sengün the guy with the highest ceiling.

Rest of the guys are not ready for the first team. Kabaca, Atakan Erdek, Furkan Haltali. The last two could contribute next season well but Kabaca still needs a certain time in the tbl. His problem finishing at the rim worries me a bit, he has great tools to be a good power forward though.

I want to see Sengün really with a top pg like calathes or Micic. He would be a double double machine.

                      • David Mutaf, U18 Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul

Mutaf will be playing his third ANGT. Last season, he averaged 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists at ANGT Belgrade. The 1.98-meter guard helped Turkey finish third at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018 when he collected 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Mutaf is an excellent shooter - both spot up and off the dribble. He has very good court vision. Mutaf, who is left-handed, is very effective at creative attacking to the left. His right hand has improved since last year and is getting better. Mutaf has good size for his position and is fast enough to defend quick guards.

                          • Well Fener is not famous for its youth work. Sarper David Mutaf is the only promising prospect. Very good combo guard material + a very solid sharpshooter. I can see that he can use his weak hand better but no pick and roll at all in his game. He should train with Sloukas more.

He must leave Fenerbahce as soon as possible.

Wrong thread. But, yeah, to me he also looked like bigger Sloukas. Might be very nice player in a long run.
LTU NT will snatch Eurobasket 2029 title with this roster:

                              Jokubaitis, Marciulionis, Laurencikas
                              Indrusaitis, Brazdeikis, Rubstavicius
                              Buzelis, Lelevicius
                              Murauskas, Sirvydis
