  • 1999(very strong generation)

    Berke Atar(C): NT player

    Sehmus Hazer(SG): NT player

    Yigitcan Saybir(PF): NT player

Onuralp Bitim(SG): he still has the talent

    Muhaymin Mustafa(SF): very low IQ

    2000(surprisingly strong generation)

Burak Gözeneli(SG/PG): for me he is the best prospect of this generation and could be even a very important player for turkish BB. Clearly more talented as Akay and Konuk. Body will be key.

Sadik Emir Kabaca(C/PC): important big with good upside

    Yavuz Gültekin(SF)

    Mert Konuk(SG)

    Mert Akay(PG)

Players like Ergi Tirpanci and Eray Akyüz are garbage.

    2001

    Ömercan Ilyasoglu(PG): true talent

Ömer Yasir Kücük(PG): still the best G-prospect with Ömercan(and Burak Gözeneli)

    Mustafa Kurtuldum(SG): overrated

    Atakan Erdek(SG/PG)

    2002(very strong generation)

    Alperen Sengün(C/PF): NBA player

Tibet Görener(SF): he has yet enough ballhandling at this stage but he could lose it in the next years like Metecan Birsen. He is too passive.

David Mutaf(SG/PG/SF): he is w/o shoes 196-7 and he doesn´t need another inch, he already has great size for Europe. Great talent, real scorer with bright future but Obradovic will not give him a chance because he is not a serb. 10 times more talented as Kurtuldum.

    Emir Oflaz(PG)

(Players with upside for the next years Fatih Mehmet Bardak(PF/C) and Yigit Onan(SF)

Adem Bona is w/o shoes 202-3 at best, not more. Alperen Sengün is about 203(he is clearly taller as Bona for example), Furkan Haltali 205, Sadik Emir Kabaca 206 & Berke Atar 209 etc.

the 2004 generation will probably be real strong

Yigit Hamza Mestoglu(PF): body will be key

Derin Mark Saran(PG): body will be key

Efe Tahmaz(SF/PG): Sadly he is playing PF at Partizan and his role is too small for such a talent. He is more talented as Eray Büyükcangaz, Eray is better athlete but Efe is better driver, better shot and has higher IQ. Great prospect with great IQ.

Göktug Efe Gücoglu(SG): After Mutaf the next great SG-prospect from Fener. Maybe even better shooter as David. Great scorer with high IQ.

Berke Büyüktuncel(PF/SF): he has to play PF, not SF.

    Haktan Yavas(SF/PF)

    Eray Büyükcangaz(SF/PG)

Of course thats too early for this generation.

    • @TurkfromGermany, thank you for the great summary. and this was quite helpful.

I have no clue about the players in many of the later generations (2002 and later) - not that I know a lot about the previous ones, but I at least watched them in European youth tournaments, and I tend to agree on your assessment on most. So, you say Akyuz is garbage. He was considered to be either very good or very bad, kinda ballhogger with low efficiency, so by now it's clear i guess.

He is a great ballhandler drives very well to the rim but no feeling in the finger and yes he uses too many balls in the offense. Wouldnt survive BSL.

Anyway: Batin Tuna had a great season ending game. In the game for the third rank he made a triple double with 20 Points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. In a tournament of U18 he was one of the best with 16. A really complete player for his age.

Batın Tuna is a forward, not a PG.

One of the most respective academies of US, Oak Hill Academy has interest for him. He will be followed this summer closely.
Sports is not only considered as a superiority of physical capability. Perception, intelligence and morality assist it as well. The strong with less intelligence and comprehension can not cope with the less strong but with sufficient intelligence and comprehension. I like the sportsman who is intelligent, agile as well as morally upright.

Sure, but definitely not as PG. He is going to be a Tweener as his current skill-set promises. No coaches have given that role to him in serious games. Better stick him to the position he can display his skills at maximum. SF/PF.

Well I didnt watch many games of him but in the u16 tbf international tournament he played as a playmaker. And with 198cm he wont play PF. Do you have a source referring to OAK-Hill?

                  • Two Turkish prospects, Tibet Deniz Görener and Sarper David Mutaf are invited to the basketball without borders 2019 and for me its unbelievable they havent invite our best 2002 man Alperen Sengün. There is also no Usman Garuba and 4 guys from Germany and 4 guys from France.

Koralp Türk: body shape reminds of Jokic, great soft release, very slow must wait his development. Was MVP of U16 tournement of turkey this year.
                      Batin Tuna isn´t a PG, he is a SF/G.

Efes always wins these turkish championships but they don´t always have talent. U14 winner 2002 generation has no talent, this 03 generation with no talent etc. For Efes it´s only important to win, not to develop potential kids. But the 05 generation(winner of U14) of Efes is good.

Jokic is 208(without shoes) & 220 wingspan, Koralp 200 with no future. Koralp has no chance to play PF and no chance to play C. More skilled/even shorter version of Ahmetcan Duran with no chance at pro because he can´t defend anything.
15 months younger Yigit Hamza Mestoglu is already a much better player as Koralp and has 10 times better future.....

The most interesting turkish player in the 03 generation is Hamza Celik(PF). But i have no hope for him either because he is too soft and thin. Great shooting potential, body potential and high IQ.

                      • The U15 tournament has ended today and we lost the final against LTU. Refs were a bit unfair but this was expected. Büyükcangaz impressed me the most. Very fluent, very good speed and direction change for his length. If i am not mistaken he is like 203 with 15 years. Passing is ok, court vision is ok, shooting is not very bad but he needs to work on it. A really uncommon dody measures. A ball handling at that level with 15 and with this length is really not common.

Our team is really tall in general but sucks playmakingwise especially without büyükcangaz on the court. Mestoglu was the second surprise. Very safe shooter especially from the free throw line. Banvit knows how to raise bigs. Shootings were a catastrophy. Despite the fact Büyükcangaz created much space for shooting most of the 3 point attempts ended up as airballs. We need bigs though i dont mind.

                        • The new (turkish) Dimitris Diamantidis

Eray Büyükcangaz, born 1.1.04, 1,96 m, big wingspan, agile, fluid Playmaker.

But the real surprising thing is his similarity to Dimitris Diamantidis, not only his playing style and his height but also his look. He could be his son.

If I envied ever a greek player it was not Giannis, Papaloukas or Spanoulis but Dimitris Diamantidis. Its of course too early to talk about a 15 year old guy but it would be great to get a player like him in the future.

                          • By end of his physical development we could have 2.01 - 2.03 PG.
But his birthday doesn't convince me again. He might be 2002-2003 born player.

I read this many times but how is this possible in Turkey? Maybe on the Syrian border. His face looks very childish thouh.

it was possible for a while, but not sure if it still is. My own birthplace (not the date) is incorrect in my ID, because my father for some reason registered me in his village. and yeah, that village is right on the Syrian border

Eray does indeed look a lot like 3D. Hope it inspires him.
