  • News/Rumors for TBL 2007-08 season

TBL teams haven't waited for the current season to finish; the rumors and transactions already started.

First of all, two teams from Antalya have joined TBL: Antalya BŞB and Kepez Belediyesi.

Banvit signed İnanç Koç (from Karşıyaka), Yunus Çankaya (from Selçuk Üni.), Derya Yannier (from TB2L), and Ümit Sonkol, the rebounding leader of last season (from Mersin). They extended coach Selçuk Ernak's contract.

Mersin signed new head coach Ahmet Çakı to replace Hakan Demir. They added Ersin Görkem (from Banvit).

Galatasaray released Gerald Fitch. Tolga Tekinalp is said to have retired.

Serhat Çetin, one of the bright U-20 NT members, is rumored to leave Karşıyaka.

Telekom allagedly signed Michael Wright, and they're in search of some other big names.

Galatasaray probably will sign a contract with Vestel and cancel the contract with Cafe Crown. They want to build a strong roster for next season.

      I'm just quoting some rumors from batug.com;

Galatasaray is about to sign M. Slaughter from Karşıyaka, and Murat Kaya is said to have already left the club.

I'm curious about Fitch. He is a great player, still young. IMO he can play in EL, interesting who will land him finally.

No EL team would pick him. He feeld like some kind of dwayne wade. He can't play team basketball and he shoots when ever he wants. He is completely useless for any team which has aims to play good basketball. I'm happy that he left our team.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like him so much, I still remember his discipline problems and his attitude in Cibona, where Anzulovic kicked his ass after few games.

I admit i didn't saw him in Gala, but maybe Ozyer played him as a Pg(?),which is a obviously not his position. He is a SG all the way.
And when playing that position I think he is absolutely a EL player.

I don't mean he is in the highest level, but he can be a very nice addition for smaller teams where he can be the leader like Prokom, Aris etc etc. I rest my case.

He played as SG but he used the ball when ever he wanted. Look at his TO average. His character is very bad and he is extremely selfish. 3 Minutes before the Game starts he has I Pod in his ears. He isn't a good shooter. He hits 2 shots then misses 3, then hits 1 again and misses 4 in a couple. He is a superstar in Streetball but completely useless for any Basketball team. Especially in europe.

Sounds to me like Will Solomon..
Anyway, could be. I guess you watched him many times this year, so maybe you right. My impressiom was that he can play EL basketball. in any case, he is a well-known shooter actually, certainly not a bad shooter as you described. This one you can't take away.

Yeah, in some games, especially the one I watched at the 2nd or 3rd week when he scored 40, he looked like a superstar. But even then, I wrote to a Turkish board "I've never seen such a selfish player for many years now".

He believed Galatasaray was an inferior team for his level, and played just as he wished, I guess. I don't think he'd exhibit the same behavior at any serious team.

According to Sabah (http://arama.sabah.com.tr/arama/aram...y=oktay+malaga), Efes Pilsen has agreed terms with Engin Atsür and Ender Arslan. It also says Unicaja Malaga wants to replace Scariolo (who is rumoured with Olympiacos) with O. Mahmuti.

NTVspor.net says Ergin Ataman is very close to Beşiktaş.

Ataman says: "I have some alternatives in other countries, too. How much investment Beşiktaş will make next season is important. I only coach a team which can compete with Fenerbahçe Ülker. Everything will be clear till weekend."

Efes Pilsen looking for their new coach: http://www.turkbasket.com/haberanasa...1025&hid=31469

These names really excited me.I hope Efes Pilsen would hire one of these veteran coaches.Looka at Perasovic,he was going on very well with TAU,until his illness and leaving TAU.He told that he wanted to coach a team in Spain again, but not sure what will happen after that.

Dusan Ivkovic had left Dynamo Moscow, and I think he will be glad to be coach of an Euroleague team again. But maybe he wants to take a rest for a long time
