The bigger problem is that we choke in most of the games due to lack of play making. I hated to see Korkmaz and Bitim playing so stupidly. Thats why Ulubay is much needed.

We don't even have 1 guy who can score and make plays for others... Truly sad

Sengun will help a lot with his court vision and 1 vs 1 strength. I think we wont choke with him that much.

            It should be Sengun.

What terrible turnovers even from Sipahi. Always Hazer, Ozdemiroglu seem good in these friendlies. But when it matters, we need a brain on court. They might be useful players but not main guys. It is obvious that Korkmaz and Bitim are not fit together. They are more like substitution each other. Arslan, Ulubay and Yılmaz might be useful but it is hard to decide which one make final roster. I do not like Sanli. With Sengun, he might be out.

            Considering Ozdemiroglu is healthy;

            Sipahi - Ozdemiroglu
            Hazer - Ulubay
Korkmaz - Bitim - Arslan (Yılmaz)
            Osmani - Kabaca - Saybir
            Sengun - Yurtseven

I was honestly expecting a weaker team considering it's just the first preparation game, but what I saw exceeded my expectations by far. It's quite evident that we will have the upper hand against our opponents. Our ceiling of talent remains significantly higher when considering the level of our opponents. This tournament and the preparation period provide a serious opportunity to establish the team leader and supporting roles for the upcoming years' tournaments.

Making definitive judgments based on the first game wouldn't be prudent due to its early stage, but my initial impressions are as follows: Yurtseven once again demonstrated in this game why he is in NBA. Yurtseven is a substantial driving force. Hopefully, he can deliver dominant performances throughout the tournament as he did today. The team appears more organized and systematic when Sipahi is on the court. Whenever Hazer takes on the role of PG, we encounter significant issues with offensive production. I expect Bitim to become a more decisive offensive player. We need Korkmaz to provide sudden scoring bursts. I don't think he will need to carry the team offensively; we'll have enough scoring options. Roughly speaking, Kabaca seems unlikely to receive more playing time compared to Osmani. Their minutes will be shared. Despite Osmani's poor defensive performance today, I believe Ataman can distribute their playing time equally due to Kabaca's more apparent defensive vulnerabilities in his overall game. Buyuktuncel didn't make a significant impact in the limited time he played in the first game, but he'll probably get a few more opportunities in the upcoming games. Some decisions don't necessarily need to be rational. Opting for Buyuktuncel to have the final roster might prove to be a positive decision in the long run for us. Sanli didn't have many chances to handle the ball in this one; he seemed quite reserved throughout the game. Ulubay assumed more responsibility than I expected and didn't put up a bad performance.

In the game tomorrow, hopefully, Yilmaz, Buyuktuncel, and Arslan will get some playing time.

Ataman has a problem with the selection of game winning shot. This game again he chose Korkmaz to drive like he did last year against Slovenia. It is not Korkmaz's strong side. Just shot the ball. I am sure he has higher percentage when he shot the ball than drive.

In world cup qualifiers against Serbia, we again had a bad shot selection with Wilbekin in final minutes. This would be a problem in a do or die games.

It's not only the NT, this is his main weakness at any team. The most tragic part is that we usually cannot even take a shot. He puts the players in such unprepared positions that we either cannot inbound, or lose it before attempting a decent shot. He should hand this task over to one of his assistants, we could not be worse off.

My takeaways from the Polan victory

                    - Alperen Sengun is a star in the making. Super talented on the offense and defense is also not that bad.
                    - Our game looks better when Sipahi is on the court but without him Sengun should take the burden of decision making. Thats why he has to play on four

                    - I am not happy with the defense of Omer Faruk Yurtseven. Not that he gets beaten by shorter guys easily, his low post positioning is bad and he is still too soft.

                    - Furkan Korkmaz defense was just horrible. I mean he cant make plays, he cant defend, he just turned out to be a spot up shooter who can create a bit for himself.

-Generally, our defense looked weak on 1 vs 1 defense and we were also very late bringing help etc.

                    - Offense was most of the time great though.

24-8-8 with only 1 TO is crazy, this kid is a superstar no doubt and he really looks a little taller compared to last year

As demonstrated once again by the preparation games, NT's one of the greatest need at the moment is a big-man who prioritizes defense and can compensate for the significant defensive holes created by players like Korkmaz who contribute offensively. Bona needs to build upon his progress this season and continue developing to become an essential piece for the NT. In an environment where defensive liabilities in perimeter defense directly translate into points for the opponent, it's clear that even teams weaker than us will pose a threat in this system. While we might not feel this deficiency as strongly in the Pre-Olympic Tournament, assuming we secure a spot for the Olympic Qualification Tournament next year, the defensive gaps especially those related to Korkmaz will undoubtedly become more prominent.

Sengun's integration with the ball, both in terms of playing for himself and facilitating team play, was truly impressive. His mere presence on the court boosted confidence in the team. Not only did he contribute with assists that show up in the statistics, but he also displayed significant leadership by ensuring fluidity in the offense. It's heartening to see that he's putting considerable effort into addressing his areas that are open to improvement such as FT shooting. Just as Doncic is crucial for Slovenia, Porzingis for Latvia, and Markkanen for Finland, and how they elevate their respective teams, Sengun has demonstrated that he can provide a similar level of contribution to our NT. Of course, we expect him to dominate against stronger opponents, but his performances in the NT jersey thus far have been satisfactory for us.

Regarding these games, the only critique I have is that Kabaca, despite contributing positively every second he's on the court, hasn't received the expected playing time in the rotation. It seems that Ataman is leaning towards the idea of forming a "twin towers" duo with Sengun and Yurtseven. However, I believe that Sengun and Kabaca would form a much better pairing. This way, Yurtseven could also contribute to the scoring while Sengun is on the bench.

I am going to point out that the presence of Sengun and his willingness, perseverance, attitudes on the court spread all over his teammates and boosted all team's energy. Sengun is indisputable leader. The players like Sengun also contributes the team spirit drasdically. That was impressive even in that age he got shown his self confident and took over the leadership and conviced everyone in the team.
You can compete all along the players like Sengun not merely talent as well as character wise he exceptional out of Turkish players. Look Furkan, he is about to be 30 yo and still sisy, low energy and showing wanabe star body language on the court. its irritates. When things are matter you can just win players like Sengun' mindset.. Even we take Furkan out of rosterin the long run. its sure that it might boost team spirit. We have witnessed that in 2006 world cup without memeo and hedo. The most important thing is team cohesion and if some players are spoit just left out of roster.

Our major problem is still remains same since we desperately needs a pg who can contribustes all aspects of the game. The addition of Sipahi is good but not enough. Okben is having stability problem during all season long but as for the tourney we might get contribution from him. Once he want to play ball he can good at pass traffic, defence, offence jack all trade skill wise he might be work during the tourney.

What's the status on Larkin or Wilbekin for the World Cup, will they be available?
With one of them and Cedi and the resurgance of Sengun and Yurtseven I think this team could go really far.

Sengun look sso much more agile and quicker than last year. I think we can definitely roll out a twin tower lineup with him and Yurtseven
