Rebrača retires

Rebraca just announced his decision to retire from Pamesa Valencia and profesional basketball due to his inability to get back in shape following various small injuries and of course his heart issues. He was a great player. Too bad he could not have at least a full, active, season in ACB before retiring.

too bad those health issues ruined his career. When I watched the Bodiroga-Rebrača duo, I had the feeling he could become one of europe's greatest... just too bad

What a shame. Rebraca played so well in Europe and had some great games in the NBA too. For me, it was Rebraca's international play that was so good: when he teamed with Bodiroga and Tomesavic, that team was just great.

Just too bad really, he was such a force through the 90s. Bodiroga and him were surely one of the best duos in European basketball ever. I started following him more closely during the Treviso years, I still recall his effective low post moves, his dominating presence under the basket, his blocks! He was one of the greatest centres Europe ever had that's for sure. A hard worker he was always, his constant improvements until he reached the top were visibly due to hard work.
Glad I have some games of Yugoslavia, PAO and Benetton to watch his games again.

We'll never forget you in the F4 in Thessaloniki and in the final vs Maccabi when you were seriously ill before the game with a fever of 39o and with blured vision you played the game of your life to hand us our 2nd European trophy.

We'll never forget that in your last game for Panathinaikos, after you were fouled out against Olympiakos, the game and league title was won with 2 minutes to go, you walked towards the fans and gave us your shirt.

I like to wish you a happy retirement and all the best what you decide to do from now on.

I really respect him and admire him a lot for all that he has reached in his carrer, but i must say that i saw him playing with Pamesa this season some games and he did quite a nice job in many games. Of course he wasnt the old Rebraca that we all remember, but i think that carefully a little by little he could have continued playing and doing a pretty good job in Pamesa and in ACB.

Anyway he will know his body better than anybody and if he has decided to retire, he will have some good reasons to do it (i hope that its not for his heart problems), so i just wish the best in his future to this awesome player. Thx for everything and good luck!

I respect Rebrača’s decision to retire from basketball. He had a long and successful career, both in Europe and in the NBA. He was a dominant center and a great leader. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. It’s a pity that he couldn’t play more in the ACB, but his health comes first.
