Topic has taken all attention this season, but Drezgic is also an excellent prospect with high upside. Different than Topic, plays in a slower pace and relies on smooth shooting. Also a flashy passer. Should be vital player in U18 team. Aside from Topic and Drezgic, I would also add Stankovic as a nice PG prospect with great body. He will be playing for U20 team this summer.

Curious to see where will Topic and Djurisic fall in the draft today. I think Topic is out of top 10 due to injury and will likely be drafted in top 15, maybe even top 20. The most important thing is that there is no structural damage in his knee, so if he still gets drafted in top 10 despite injury it's good news and probably means optimistic medical projection regarding his knee. I expect Djurisic to be drafted in the second round, probably mid to late second round. Even though he did great in the second half of the season, I think there are concerns about his shooting and the fact that he is used to play on ball which is difficult to translate in NBA and it's questionable whether he can adapt to play more as off ball threat. I don't think he can be the type of player who can play without ball in his hands. Draft will be important for Djurisic because if he ends up in the first round, he will most likely stay in NBA next season. Second round probably means he will be stashed in Europe. Zvezda is interested to bring him, but he should probably explore some high Eurocup level teams. Spain would be great for his development, he would often play vs Eurolegaue teams and basically 2 strong competitions every week.

Serbian basketball prospect Nikola Topic, projected to be a Top 10 pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA draft scheduled for June 26-27, has named Tyrese Haliburton as the player he tries to model his game after.
When asked if he would prefer winning an Olympic gold medal with the Serbian national team or an NBA championship, Topic chose the Olympic gold.
"Olympic gold medal," he responded. "The love for my country is unmatched. I'm proud to be Serbian."
Topic will be NT all-timer. Just like Bogdan.

Topic is a Thunder! I only wish a good health to this kid, everything else will be as good as advertised if he stays healthy.
Now, it seems strange that Thunder gave up on Giddey and immediately drafted such talent as Topic. They may have lost trust in Giddey and see Topic as a potential running mate with SGA. SGA/Topic could work in a similar way as Doncic/Irving combo in Dallas. Too early to talk about it though, because Topic is most likely out for entire next season due to rehab. That is not good but Thunder have experience and patience with such cases, Holmgren missed his entire rookie year too and came back last season showing off his potential and played entire season. Another thing to keep in mind, Presti is one of the best talent evaluators in NBA, so Topic must be highly appreciated and would definitely be top 5 or even top 3 pick if not for injury.
Another thing to consider is that OKC may have drafted Topic to use him as valuable piece in some trade because they are in win now situation and might be looking to upgrade their roster with players who are ready to contribute immediately. It's a bit uncertain what's going to happen, but getting healthy is priority for Topic. The good thing is that if it's going to be a redshirt season, he can use a lot of time to work on his shot which is his biggest weakness, so he can still make major improvement even if he is not playing.
Djurisic will probably be drafted tonight. Heading back to Europe is most realistic option, just need to be smart about picking new team. Sources say Zvezda is a done deal, but given how bad developmental organization they are, he could consider different options.Last edited by Serbian_Layup; 06-27-2024, 07:14 AM.

U18 team played 2 prep games vs Germany and beat both games.
88-81 (Bosnjakovic 20, Drezgic 16, Kostic 12)
86-75 (Kostic 18, Drezgic 17, Bosnjakovic 14)
Kharchenkov, Anderson and Duru carried German team.
These 3 youngsters will be main force of this team. They won all prep games scoring 90+ points in most of them. Very talented team on offense. Should be a good tournament.

I see Bosnjakovic as strong role player, something in the mold of Lucic and Kalinic. This profile is also incredibly important to identify in this Olympic cycle. After Lucic and Kalinic we lack wings with strong defensive presence and ability to switch 1-3 on the perimeter. This profile is as much needed as a star guard.
Dimitrijevic can be an upgraded version of Milutinov as he has quicker feet and can shoot from outside. His post game needs work and he has to get a lot stronger. That will come with time I guess.
Right now, we have depth at 4-5 positions, I would like to see in the next couple of years a few players from 1-3 positions emerging to NT status. To be precise, I would like to see a player with star guard potential, a player with strong defensive impact and high motor, a two way player or a couple of 3&D players.

Great U18 tournament for Drezgic, especially in the knockout phase. I got to know his game a lot better. First of all, I'm amazed by his touch and footwork. He doesn't have elite first step or explosiveness, but his shooting touch on various motions - off the dribble, step back or floaters and a very nice finishing around basket, combined with really great footwork impressed me a lot. I thought of him as a first pass point guard but no, he is definitely a scoring point guard. He lacks athleticism but plays in his own pace in a very confident way being aware of a great footwork and shooting touch. The knock on him is that he tends to over dribble and lacks elite vision. However, similarly to Topic, his mindest is coldblooded. Showing serious clutch gene and doesn't shy away from taking responsibility.
To sum up, very exciting prospect and one of rare scoring first point guards in our basketball history. Topic and Drezgic at PG is something really special if they both pan out. Extremely skilled point guards with very different game style.
