  • Avramovic and Smailagic are both high level character players, they always step up when it matters, especially Avramovic. Very nice to see them doing well in Euroleague. Obradovic said it nicely about Avramovic being a high level player right now, but if he wants to be a top player, he has to control his energy and do a better decision making. I would also like to see Samailagic popping a lot more because ha had a really good stroke from the three point range. He does well faking handoffs and attacking closeuts.

    • Avramovic wont be top player.

Simply too small for 2020s basketball standarts ,he must be smartest player on the floor that studies his oponnets more than they do and be super energy bunny otherwise he will lose individual battles to bigger and more gifted athletically players.

Look at 2020s nba guards sizes and lenghts its ridiculous. Coach can teach how to think,no coach can teach size

1m92 guard must be smarter, faster and non stop energy bunny to even have a chance to survive out there with the best 1m98+ long 2020s type guards

Hiqh Iq + size beats just hiqh iq player.Thats why Avromovic must be energy bunny non stop. If he will star control his energy,he wont stay on the floor playing best fiba 1m98+ long guards. That energy is his edge why he achieved this level.

Avramovic looks to me like very smart player that maximazed his level to what athletic tools he was given.

We don't need Avramovic to be top player. From NT perspective, it will be awesome if Avramovic sustains this level of play.

When I wrote Avramovic should control his energy I didn't mean he should stop playing in his usual way. I meant that he should channel his energy in smarter way because sometimes he produces chaos in both positive and negative way, and making better control of that energy would lead to better decision making. That's what Obradovic had in mind when he said Avramovic could be top player if he can learn to make better decisions. Thankfully, his madness is far more positive than negative for longer stretches.

There is no problem with his size at PG. He is quick, crafty finisher around basket, creative slasher, but to be top player his playmaking and decision making would have to be on another level. However, again, from perspective of our NT, we have enough lead players, so high role players like Avramovic are pure gold.

        • It's contrary than Shawshank described. Avramovic is low IQ (or at the very least not high IQ) and very athletic (at least in terms of quickness, leaping and explosivness) guard for Euro standards. His amazing motor, athleticism and cheekiness make him a player. God help his decision making though...He gets away with being very slippery zool and often acrobatic lay-ups (he's a straky shooter, but shots goes in, look out) in most cases and he's a good, very agile defender. He's not the toughest guy, that's true, but that's the only thing that Shawshank got right in his post.

          • Weekly dose of Nikola Topic - 27/6/10 on 3/5 for 2, 3/4 for 3, 12/12 FT. 15 points in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. Cold blooded mentality with clutch gene. What he needs to work on is make quicker passes when teams blitz him in the p&r not allowing his penetration. You can see teams are already scouting him and go hard on his dribble. Adding midrange game is also necessary in the long term. But so far, absolutely exceeding everyone's expectations.

That big man Plavsic is very useful, he is finishing everything around basket, seems like a good addition for qualification windows. Miljenovic as a combo guard with good energy is also very interesting for B roster.

Djurisic is agile on defense, that's good to see. It's going to take him a couple of more years before he gets it all together.

              • I wrote about this kid Momcilovic earlier, lights out shooter. Great start for Iowa State, combined for 9 threes in his first 2 games, 18 and 17 points respectively. It's interesting that he is playing a lot more than Omaha Biliew who is projected to be first round pick in the next draft. He flashed that baseline fadeaway jumper in the high school, and it seems he is nailing that shot in college basketball too. Great and versatile shooter, should be on the radar of our Federation.

                • G league is considered to be a joke by many and I honestly don't have positive opinion about its developmental purpose. There have been a ton of players who scored 30 plus points without stepping on NBA court. The reason I posted these Jovic's highlights is to point out to his shot making ability and great offensive versatility for a player of his size. Only in this video he flashed long step back 2, step back 3, coast to coast in transition, face up, spot up and driving with great passing vision. The kid is so talented. Spoesltra is a defensive minded coach, but I think he is keeping Jovic on a very short leash. He is way better than anytihing Love or Highsmith can bring ofensively. However, the Heat are really known for developping their players, so Jovic has just to work hard on his weaknesses and he will get a chance. He is just too talented.

                  • Jovic to me always looks like Mirotic. Their catch and shoot process is very similar. More or less his career may shape up similar way too. Meaning he can be a good role player in NBA.

Mirotic's upgraded version. Jovic is complete package on offense, not just a stretch PF. He can be a point forward type of player, Mirtoic never had that kind of playmaking or passing awareness as Jovic, nor his motor.

Not sure about Jovic's ceiling because he can be anywhere from a good role player to key piece on contending teams. His skill set on offense suggests way more than just a role player, but we will see. Being a good role player in NBA is also great.

                      • NBA scouts have already had some excellent evaluation opportunities with all the nonconference tournaments taking place. A handful of the high-profile…

Bleacher report has Topic at no. 2...In few other mocks top 5 or 10. I don't think he will be top 5 unless he improves outside shooting by the end of season. Pull up, off the dribble shots from mid range and long range, shooting versatility is what he needs to work on and which could propel him to top 3 pick. Nevertheless, it's incredible to go from late second round pick to top 5 in two months of the season.

I read that Covic wants him for the next season at Zvezda...LOL. If he is top 10 or 15 pick he is going to NBA and immediately getting 20+ minutes per game. Having to choose between "famous" Covic's developmental system at Zvezda and actual NBA minutes and development by NBA coaching staff is a no brainer. The last thing Topic could do is go to Zvezda (Covic).

Watched Tristan Vukcevic last night. I have never seen a big forward shoot the ball like him. He has incredible touch in his hands and amazing feel for the game on offense. If he ever plays decent defense and get stronger, he is going to be so good. Him and Smailagic have such a good shooting stroke, with Tristan having ridiculous shooting versatility. At 213cm nobody is going block his shot on the perimeter.

                        • The Miami Heat head coach had some enlightening comments about Nikola Jovic's progress and his development playing forward and center.

This might shed some lights on why Jovic is not playing. They want him to be able to play both frontcourt positions. I'm not sure Jovic's game is made for center, he is like a guard in big body, perimeter is where he feels the best. However, in long term, this might help Jovic to become a complete player. It's obvious that no one is giving up on small ball lineups in which everybody can move, so Heat are trying to get Jovic used to play at C too. They seem pretty satisfied with Jovic and his development, so there is still not a big reason for concern regarding his lack of minutes. In the long run, this might be very benefitial for Jovic as Heat are known for their great developmental program. But I can't help but think that they should first emphesize what he is good at and polish those skills, and then work on his positional versatility.

                          • It's Showtime. The No Ceilings crew puts together their first Mock Draft of the 2024 NBA Draft cycle.

Topic at no. 3 on this draft board. He seems to be on a little bit of a slump lately, will be interesting to see how he plays against Zvezda in couple of days.

                            • This is what prime Jovic is most likely going to look like. Impacting the game even if his shot is not falling. Heat's development staff is great, Jovic is improving even when he is not playing much. His defense compared not only to last year, but to start of this season is on another level. He is going to be a modern NBA forward who can affect the game in various ways, not only with his shooting, and that is what Spoelstra wants him to be as a player. He's got a lot of trust to be able to develop off the court which is really important.

This is also going to be huge for our NT. His rookie year in NT was fantastic, and he is going to come again as a different and improved player. His development is so important for our NT considering that PF position is the most vulnerable at the moment (not in the near future though). Jovic is the player whose improvement we need the most right now, because everything else is set and ready to go. Jovic and Jokic frontcourt on offense is going to be a blast to watch. Good luck trying to stop that.

A lot of praise on his work ethic and talent:

                              Great defensive sequence here

                              • Drezgic is the biggest talent at PG position after Topic. It seems like he impressed a lot of scouts at BWB camp. Interesting to follow their paths and further development. They could be an awesome pair of guards for our national team.
