  • Fiba u20 ec 2022

Obviously the least significant tournament for me 2002 generation is the oldest generation that can participate. I am for a younger group of guys basically from 03/04 and maybe 2 guys from 2002 maybe.

From the Turkish it will be a strong team but according to the new politics of the Turkish BB federation younger guys will be participating so as long as they stay in div A everything is all right.

Turkey has announced the preliminary roster for the tournament. The bold ones shouldn't participate and waste their time in U-level tournaments anymore. 19-20 years old players should be ready for the next step and take place in individual development training. They have nothing to prove at this level. Also, giving minutes to relatively lower-level profile players is a great chance for them to come into prominence. I would love to see what Eyüp Can Öncü, Koralp Türk, Yiğit Onan or Emir Adıgüzel are capable of doing in a system where they are trying to meet the expectations on court.

Yiğit Karalar, Ömer Ege Peksar: Akran Gemlik Basketbol
    Gökay Hacıoğlu: Aliağa Pekim Spor
    Ali Yüceoral: Bahçeşehir Koleji
Ege Özsever, Furkan Haltalı, Yiğit Çoban, Emir Adıgüzel: Beşiktaş JK Icrypex
Eyüp Can Öncü: Bornava Belediyesi Karşıyaka
    Ege Özçelik, Bora Yaşar: Darüşşafaka
    Berkay Yılmaz: Fenerbahçe Koleji Safiport
Mithat Can Özalp: Frutti Extra Bursaspor
    Acar Şen: Galatasaray Nef
Ufuk Tan Ertan, Koray Çekici: Gaziantep Basketbol
    Koralp Türk: Lima Spor
Emre Can Akdümbek: Nadir Gold İstanbul Basket
    Ege Eskinazi: Teşvikiye
Enis Kıvanç Çöl, Bora Satır, Batın Tuna, Ali Taşkın: Tofaş
Batuhan Acar, Mevlüt Melih Doğan: Türk Telekom
Ata Can Atsüren: Drexel Universty / USA
Sarper David Mutaf: Gran Canaria / Spain
Yiğit Onan: KK Dynamic / Serbia
Adem Bona: Prolific Prep School / USA
Tibet Deniz Görener: San Jose State Universıty / USA
Sports is not only considered as a superiority of physical capability. Perception, intelligence and morality assist it as well. The strong with less intelligence and comprehension can not cope with the less strong but with sufficient intelligence and comprehension. I like the sportsman who is intelligent, agile as well as morally upright.

The U20 EC is a very underrated tournament. But if we look who are the MVP´s(or even starting 5) of the U20´s then we must see this tournament is a good preparation for pro level. Furkan Haltali shouldn´t participate at this level, he is already a decent pro. We can say similar things about Adem Bona. But for players like Batin Tuna, David Mutaf, Tibet Görener is this championship important. Players like Eyüp Can Öncü(02, C), Koralp Türk(03, PF) have no potential for pro level. I miss Ozan Yilmaz(03, PG) in this team, he has potential for pro level and is a better prospect as the overrated Batin Tuna.

Bona is out for Turkey. Great news, great chance to rely on individual development off-season and to be ready for NCAA.

Yeah he would have wasted his time. Individual training is crucial right now

Lithuania will miss Tubelis too. Kinda expected him to snatch MVP of the tournament.

            Buzelis, Lelevicius
            Murauskas, Sirvydis

I'm not familiar with Greek Mantzoukas, but I treat Nunez as the most talented individual in this tournament. He's 2 years younger though. Here's 10 players to watch:

MUNICH (Germany) - After a two-year break, the FIBA U20 European Championship returns returns to its usual format with the 2022 edition in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Last minute deal. Bona is in finalized roster of Turkey. He didn't participate any training with team in preparation phase. If he can accommodate himself to team without adaptation issue, this is a big upgrade for Turkish team.

Playing a week-long tournament didn't bother him as it seems. Good commitment for this kid. He had been practicing with UCLA since the beginning of summer. He is physically more than ready. After the tournament, he will flew to the States directly.

Awful pace of games, low scores, bricks and turnovers. Looks like watching some games from 2003 or something.

I'm watching Spain-Lithuania, that seems to be the case. Expected more from Nunez, Caicedo and Marčulionis...Rubstavicius kid seems to be a good shooter though.

Very weird game against Germany today. Gave the game away due to free throw issues again and stupid coaching mistakes and got it back again. Germany is a very limited team offensively but very physical. Team Turkey has 3-4 guys with future (for being pro level) the rest is really below below average. Cant remind of any team with lower ceiling. Nevertheless Adem Bona and Sarper David Mutaf did their jobs. Bona had some tactical issues due to lack of practice with the team but 70% from the field with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks is great. 19 points for him in total.

I would have wished Mutaf would have let the team play more. He forced the game sometimes too much but the kid can create his shot. 27 points and some tough shots that didnt go in looked also great.

Biggest disappointment is Görener. I think we can let go of the hope he could be a high level player.

Spain isnt as dominant as I expected them to be nevertheless its a team with offensive upside. Liked Caicedo in todays game for being 2 year younger he did a good job. Nunez can make plays for others but his scoring upside is low.

Took a good look on Marculionis too. Probably the most overrated player of the 2002 generation. Cant score in any way and by far not as creative as he needed to be in this level of competition.

Nunez doesn't have to be a profiled scorer, fantastic feel for the game, intuition, passing, some stuff you can't teach. It's good enough if he can be a decent shooter and I don't see why he couldn't, I saw couple of good off the dribble shots.

Marculionis is a physical profile, he doesn't shy away from contact, which is good. Can also pass, not at the level of Nunez, but well enough. Shooting is a problem though. People will just go under screen against him and take away even the good stuff he can do like driving. Must be a better shooter.

I personally liked how Marciulionis looked. Sure, finishing is a problem, but other than that I saw the only PRO in the court including Spanish guys too. He's almost there. Elite defence, elite first step and hustle (some risings for rebounds and pushing to transition is explosive) reliable control of the team, elite passing (in this game he didn't show it too much, but won't find many better passing prospects as Marciulionis, and I would be a bit hesitant to agree with SL that Nunez at another level in this category). His combination of being tough as nails and yet agile/explosive will transit to PRO, he will be able to get inside. But off course, shooting remains huge problem and it may reduce all his advantages if he won't improve it. Also it obvious that some mental blocks playing a part here too, but I saw some sparkle in his game and that's promising.

Spanish MONTESDEOCA, Nunez and Caicedo are talented guys, but It didn't seem dominant. Lithuania U20 has no frontline, almost literally. With Tubelis Lithuania would have taken down this Spanish team.
