Matas Buzelis Thread

Much more arc in his first two threes and usual. He needs to learn to shoot with more arc, he can't get fixed on flat shot. Working in his three is one of the keys for him. Consistency is not there yet, even visually he shoots a little bit differently each time. That's the time when he has to sleep around three point line.

Buzelis shows his game in the G League. One day he will be doing this on NBA court. You can feel that the upside is there, it's not going anywhere. What stood out to me is his ability to shoot threes of the dribble. If he can develop that into a high skill, it's over. This three shooting thing is about his upside. If he develops - he can be massive beast internationally (Franz Wagner career threes is 33%, he may raise this to some 35% at the end of the career, I think Buzelis can be on the same soil shooting wise, that comes from 6 three shots per game, so Wagner is not a super shooter, but still stretches the floor and that's enough to be a beast), if not so much - still can be a good player on NBA court. That he can finish in all various way closer the basket was long time known. And one dime, a quick decision after D collapsed on him also was very nice. I missed a bit sharper passing and quicker decision making at times from Buzelis as a prospect. That's very important aspect of the game if you want to be big time player. Seeing improvements in this part is also encouraging.

Buzelis with 38% threes now in the season Dude's let if fly with confidence, hell or high water. IDK if he ever be good shooter, but I know he will never become hesitant. He just has that right mentality, I have a chance I'm shooting. That's the difference between Liths and emigrant Liths. In Lithuania we usually wait for perfect shot, but it's always the right way to play. Matas is raw, his finishing in the NBA is not there yet, but he moves on the court really well, will get polished with time.

Bulls loosing. At the end of the season Matas may be playing tons if Bulls fail to fight for PO. And I think they might fail.

its clear buzelis is an nba player and if you are doubting that you simply dont know basketball. modern nba is all about "pass, dribble, shoot" and buzelis will be able to offer that in a couple of years, combine it with his length and defensive upside and you got a player who will have a very long nba career.

Zero doubt. It's only a question whenever he will be very good role player/starter or he can push it for an all star. That's the only question.

Buzelis this season played 3 games when he got 20+ minutes and he averaging 12ppg in those.

There's good chance Buzelis will face some solid playing minutes in next few games.

It had to happen sooner or later and it happened pretty fast. When the injured guy will come back he might face little time again, but the aggression is already there. Dude's gonna be really good with those nasty skills at 6'10 and killers attitude. But the shot is very very raw. Upcoming 3 years will determine his upside. If he will polish the three he will be by far the best player of 2023 NBA draft. Defensively he stays with guards. I can only see inconsistent three becoming his one and only flaw, but hope he will work on this too.

Buzelis first 20pts game. Most fun fact - 4 threes out 5. His shooting season so far looks better than one could expect after raw campaign in the G League with season's 22%. Now he shoots 36% and I wouldn't be all that much surprised if he finished with such solid %. Looks nice, very dynamic. Most fun is too see how easily he floats the court and gets up for an explosive finish, athletic finish. You don't see that with Lithuanians often. His legs and athleticism are different. Kleiza was athletic, he was outrunning people and dunking on them in the NBA. But even his athleticism was a bit different. Buzelis is so light on his feet. Coasting KD's lightening.

Give him time. He has to find ways to be efficient. He is definitely a talented player but his body must evolve to be physically ready. This is the only threat I see for him.
