  • That seems to be spot on, can't wait to see how Matas will be coping with his first year. Expect some huge slumps, but also some massive games. Probably at the end of the season if Bulls will tank, he could go for 30mpg for a few months if lucky. Other path, Bulls competitive, reaching playoffs and he's dealing with smaller role, but learning in more competitive and winning environment. Both paths are legit, but I think at this stage it would be the best to play as much as possible. I would love to see Bulls trading Zach Lavine and focusing on new pieces. To me this is the same intrigue as with JV when he made debut with Raptors, if not bigger.

Matas Buzelis: Rookie Expectations and Potential with Bulls

    By BVM Sportsdesk

Matas Buzelis is entering his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls after being drafted 11th overall. While he has high expectations to start and impact the game immediately, the current roster dynamics may hinder his minutes initially, as the team is likely to start three guards. Patrick Williams, who has been considered undervalued despite a hefty contract, is expected to take the starting power forward position over Buzelis. However, Buzelis possesses versatility, capable of playing both forward spots, which likely guarantees him significant playing time regardless of starting status. Ultimately, while he may begin as a bench player, there are avenues for him to potentially secure a starting role as the season progresses.
    By the Numbers
    • Matas Buzelis was drafted 11th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
    • Patrick Williams has hit over 40% of his career 3-point shots, compared to Buzelis, whose shooting remains a work in progress.
    State of Play
    • The Bulls currently plan to start three guards: Josh Giddey, Coby White, and Zach LaVine.
    • There is uncertainty about Williams' starting position as he has underperformed but is expected to start due to recent contract investments.
What's Next As the season unfolds, Buzelis has the potential to surpass Williams in the rotation, especially if the Bulls make trades that alter their current lineup structure. His playing time and impact could increase based on team performance and adjustments in roster dynamics.
Bottom Line Buzelis enters the league with significant upside, suggesting that while he may start as a bench player, his skill set and potential could lead to a pivotal role on the Bulls, depending on how well he adapts and the team's evolving needs throughout the season.

    • Watching him play gives generational talent vibes instantly. How far he can go with it at the highest level still a question though. But dude has all the variety of ways how he can punish the opponents with that size, agility and athleticism.

JV was positive about it, now his parents are accept invitations of president. Very positive. Most likely he suits next summer:

        • Good news on Buzelis. He standing out and looking good Bulls scrimmages. That is playing with actual NBA PLAYERS.

Bulls rookie forward Matas Buzelis apparently can play,” Mayberry wrote. “It was one thing for the 11th pick to impress in summer league, but the word out of minicamp sessions is the 19-year-old is holding his own in team activities. Buzelis has impressed with his passing and ability to attack the rim.”

I think this Bulls scenario will be perfect for him. Giddey won't be ball hogging, the same Ball won't too. The best scenario for a rookie to play for not selfish NBA team.

Oct 8 first pre-season game. Should be interesting.

          • Gotta love playing with Lonzo Ball and Giddey. Really you wouldn't find more pass first PGs duet in entire NBA. This might be game changer for Buzelis as a rookie season goes. They will find him cuts, they will feed him in transition. Can't wait to see how he will look in pre-season. We didn't have high flyer like him for a long time. Saras could lob Javtokas pretty hugh, now KJ will be lobbing Buzelis and a bit Tubelis. Sabonis and Krivas can't leap very high, specially Krivas dude I actually think eventually Butajevas will be serious candidate to in the NT.

            • Decent debut for Buzelis. Showed a little bit of everything. There's the feeling that he can score in many ways. 20min of action. Hope he gets the least that in the season. His % won't be good first year or two, but after 3-4 years he can be a beast if develops steadily.

                  • Well, in the second game Matas looked like real rook. Missed some lay up bunnies and kept missing threes. His three is flat, he won't be a great shooter, bit the good thing he kept shooting and eventually made one - 1/5. That's good mentality, he's not hesitant. He won't become Simmons. I'm sure he will develop his scoring mid range and inside game to excellence, but three will probably be just decent/solid (my guess). This season will be very up and down for him, learning experience. Always brings defense though, blocks, steals.

                    • Buzelis long distance shooting is still raw, but I like that he doesn't hesitate, unleashed 9 threes, made 3, and overall he unleashed 13 shots in 22min. Dude is aggressive and that's how it should be. We don't need offensively hesitant players. Give me better a bit egoistic players, those who wouldn't afraid to unleash 18+ shots in NT. As I said we simply don't have such players anymore. You have to be good enough to have such swagger and confidence to take it. I hope not only KJ, Buzelis, but also Sirvydis, Indrusaitis, Murauskas can be like that. Off course when they will play in one team, they won't have to shoot 18 shots each But we really need players with scoring mentality, with ISO mentality. I specially like how Buzelis goes to the cup, looks so effortless and it's still nearly a 7 footer going to you with full force and leaping ability. Giannis tasted it a bit:

                            Disappointing, but shits will come.

However, I'm worried about clueless Bulls. All sensible fans ask WTF are you doing - trade Lavine and Vucevic (dead end), tank and build around young pieces. It's a bit shameful Karnisovas sucking cock as GM big time. That stretch with Nuggets was a fluke obviously. Dude was really clueless with the balls and all fans and anyone who have slightest sense on BB see it.

The worst part is the coach. The same mothe fuckin' dude who was forcing to shoot Sabonis threes (literally) all his rookie season. That was his fucking role To shoot threes. Billy Donovan is a big time clueless. I think current Bulls organization needed someone like him, LOL...

As for Matas...he will have long years till he'll put everything together. First 2 season will be pretty meh with a lot of ups and downs.
