    • Hepcat, I would suggest for Tubelis to go vegan! With all seriousness. This would make much more fresh, lean and ripped than other players.

So veganism reached and poisoned Lithuanian minds already ?
I would hate if we skip middle ground like someone being mostly vegetarian and blindly fall into this vegan fad.
Back to Tubelis - wouldn't he just be acquiring his actual size ? It took years and years for JV to go from skinny kid to, you know , how he looks nowadays.
Maybe Tubelis can mature a bit faster ?
And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Zalgiris 17 times in a row.

Less time at McDonalds and more time doing cardio might be in order. Or maybe less time hoisting beer mugs and more time hoisting dumbbells.

And I hate those T-shirts Tubelis and other NCAA players are allowed to wear under their jerseys.

          Hepcat ,
How much control or awareness colleges in general have over players physical conditions and behaviour outside the training etc ?
Would they be aware if Tubelis was actually drinking or partying too much, eating Mc d?
I know players can be disciplined if they fall behind academically , but this ?

No, it's just me trying to be new age guy, LOL. Seriously, I tried couple of times to go vegan, always fail for good. Been vegetarian for 10 years. Let's call it 100% plant based diet if some are allergic to "vegan" word It's a future, IMO. Noone want to die from cancer, cardial issues, diabetes and so on.

You mean it took years for JV to become a fat ass? Seriously, yeah, Tubelis shaped super early. 17yo he was bulked already, didn't have much problems directly step onto LKL court. Now it's a matter of controlling that size, IMO. Tubelis should be in Kaunas NT camp, IMO.

Absolutely man, go for it. My daughter became vegetarian some years ago, so I had to cater for that. She left for uni 2 years ago and became vegan. But every time she comes home, she relapses. She says temptation of cheese is too much for her at home. But she is not being dixk about it, unlike my boss. He went from meat eater to vegetarian to vegan within few months with all that act of righteousness , all in all he is like one of them characters from South park. And then we found out that his new gf is vegan. So all this becaus e of some pus....
Regardless , plant based food is the future, I agree.
Probably one of them things now that stops me to.consider that is so.much more expensive to be adhering to this lifestyle than just buying and cooking some chicken

              • I don't think JV is fat, is just he went from being agile and lean to bulking up, but suddenly the trend reversed.
I watched some of that game last night, his numbers are up, nobody expects anything front the team, he looks relaxed, all good.
He will need to.come down in weight eventually IMHO

Pu...is a strong thing! Moves the world. I understand your boss. I go vegan because I decide that my self though. IDK, if you go fancy with various stuff as almond milk, vegan burgers, cheese and so on then yes, but if you grab vegetables, buckwheats and lentils, you go super cheap.

Yeah, JV will eventually have to lose some more weight and to improve his jumper even more.

I am still with you. Split peas all the way.
Easy to make some veggie burgers at home, no prob. Tofu ... Linda McCartney brand makes really good sausages. Houmus.
Etc. What worries me that you still need to take some supplements . I am sure that I read that some superstars in sports became vegan .
Very sceptical thought if it's upgrade to normal healthy diet.

Mostly not the best examples to have great career tho Anyway, not everyone's body can accept this vegan or even vegetarian stuff. Why one should torture himself with that? It can only bring more troubles, not just physical, but psychological too. Let's say if I don't eat meat, I have way less energy, so it has impact on my practices. Also I need to eat some pizza, fast food here and there too, once a week, let's say. All you need is to have some balance. For pros of course it's a bit more difficult. But this losing/gaining weight/muscles is very individual process, what suits one person, can give no results for other

IDK, Kyrie, CP3, Lillard seem to be having pretty decent careers BTW, Messy turned to vegan as well. Quite a name in football AFAIK LOL. Yeah, it varies I guess. Even though hundreds of elite science sources speak about plant based diets benefits and with time it will be much more universal. Mentally it might be difficult for those how grew on meat to go vegan, but kids who would grow on plants mainly wouldn't have any issues. BTW, all viruses are coming from animals. Meat industry is one of the main reasons why we are attacked by plenty of different viruses and having ecological crisis. Anyway, I'm with you on the side that you shouldn't do it if you go crazy while doing that.

Yeah, those 3, that's why I wrote "mostly" Messi was not a vegan, at least till 2018 World Cup, the last time I read about it and his preparations. He only changed his eating habits drastically, cause at early stages of his career he was eating everything from chocolate to pizzas and etc. That's what made him the best hoho ) Anyway, he was still eating the same meat, just decreased amount of it. It's natural, age started to catch up with him and to stay in shape you need to follow your body more. Maybe now he turned even to vegan after all these failures with club and NT, don't know, too lazy to google it. Science... it's like the same statistics, shows everything too generalized. It's too individual topic, as I wrote - what can suit one body, might not the other. Not only about going crazy, but physically too. If you want the best results - you need to analyse each case one by one, each individually and see how body reacts. Go with personal diets. Simple as that. Anyway, I don't have anything against vegans/vegetarians, if person feels great doing that

Yeah, Messi became a vegan recently, it's a year or so. Also D. Beckham became a vegan recently too. Williams sis are huge vegan promoters in Tennis world. Joaquin Phoenix is an actor speaks to me (there's like 50 elite actors are vegan now). If u need a president, B. Clinton is vegan. And for 90s dudes like us, Arnold Schwarzenegger is vegan too. It's spreading and it's great.

I believe mainly it's about motivation and having patience. If you are animal product junky, you mentally can't get it over. Other than that, I disagree that there's many people who could suffer from vegan diet. It's vice versa, this diet (using suplements like b12) kills various physical pains, very good for your joints, it basically kills all the allergies (specially gluten free diet), it turnes u on optimal weight usually and we know that meat is the main cause of cancer, diabetes and so on. I read and listened enough of thousands of sources and tried my self that it gives a lot if benefits. I'm not gonna go hardcore Vegan here to preach it dogmatically, but I think it's a the best diet for majority of population health wise.

                              • right, so it looks like interbasket is turning into another meat hating vegan chatroom as well instead of discussing pure basketball matters
The fact of the matter is that the dietary requirements for every single person, let alone millionaire professional athlete, vary wildly from pne person to another. If one guy can live and feel energetic wihle eating only plants, more power to him. Unfortunately, some of us need the protein and energy that meat products provide, otherwise we feel lethargic and weak which doesn't really bode well for an athlete, who has to be in the best shape possible all of the playing time imo
