And as expected Domantas delivered. Looks like a stud in NCAA being a freshman. 12 points and 9 rebounds per game only in 19 minutes. Can only imagine how he will look next years with increased playing time.

Gonzaga has made a statement early in the season and looks like one of the best teams in the country. Part of the reason has been the play from freshman Domantas Sabonis, who leads the team in scoring thus far. The native of Kaunas, Lithuania has been named NetScouts Basketball's International Player of the Week for games from November 17th-November 23rd.

Sabonis has been one of the best freshmen in the country and provided productive minutes off the bench this week for the Bulldogs. He averaged 14.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in only 19.3 mpg over three games while shooting 16-of-20 (80 percent) from the floor. The 6-foot-10 power forward has provided toughness and efficiency inside. In his last two games he shot a perfect 12-of-12 from the field.

While just a freshman, Sabonis has looked like an NBA talent and may not be in Spokane very long. He's a good athlete that runs the floor well and rebounds at a high level. Sabonis has played well inside but his progress throughout his freshman season will be something to watch.

Providence went 4-0 this week while capturing the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic title behind the stellar play from senior LaDontae Henton.

Interesting article on Domantas from SB Nation a couple days ago:

The 'Zags freshman power forward is putting up big numbers off the bench for one of the best teams in the country.

        Some highlights:

"He's averaging 10 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting over 73 percent from the field."

"Extend those numbers out per 40 minutes, and Sabonis is putting up over 19 points and 11.75 rebounds per night"

"He's scoring 1.135 points per possession, according to Synergy Sports, which ranks in the 96th percentile nationally"

"He's ranked in the 97th percentile nationally by scoring 1.2 points per possession on post-ups"

I saw couple of games of the Bulldogs and Sabonis is completely depends on how the team plays. If they looking a bit for him in the post, he will score, if not - he can be scoreless. And with NCAA game it can easily go either way particular night. Not to much of guards to play PRO pick and roll as well. I'm not sure Sabonis is not wasting his time in NCAA. At least he'll get better knowledge of USA basketball system and that will help him in his first years of NBA (hopefully). Another than that, he's playing among scrubs (compared to last year) and often is not involved or played enough.

Here's a good piece to have an idea how Sabonis is playing currently. He doesn't seem to be particularly bigger or more athletic, but he gets things done, has a great smell for rebounds and his post game is good. He's tough and very mobile in the post for a 18/19yo.

Wow, he has such long arms . He should be averaging a bunch of steals/blocks per game. His post moves are quite remarkable considering his age too, I think some training at the NT camp this summer could really be useful to him. He could learn some things from our two NBA big men.

God,that was some disappointment ,trying to watch my first NCAA game. Never again ,unless Gonzaga goes all the way.
I am not going to comment regarding DSa ( how about that?) game because I never lasted past 10 minutes. But one thing I would like to mention is that he seems to be a very passionate guy . Skill and passion combined , well , that is quite rare nowadays where being a bb player is just another profession.
And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Zalgiris 17 times in a row.

                            • Anyone things Domantas Sabonis could enter NBA soon ( ? )
On August 13, 2015, ESPN placed Domantas Sabonis 20th for 2015-16 season NCAA players ranking, describing him as one of the best, and edgiest, rebounder.I thing its just a matter of time.If he plays in the Eurobasket 2015 this year with Lithuania and is successful or wins a medal this could be a huge boost for him,and this would open many opportunities for him. Many NBA scouts are already keeping an eye on him.

                              • Kazlauskas saying some strong words about Domantas. Paraphrasing him, "I think he's going to be another star of basketball, the way 19yo feels in the senior NT...his character, working ethics, a lot of things suggesting he'll grow as a great player. His body suits a great player, he's a quick decision maker, his basketball understanding (the image of his father at this point), his technique. He's going to be a star"

Quite a bit to hear this from Kazlauskas who is not hyping anyone without a reason.
