  • Italy NT 2024 ( the last dance for Beli,Gallo and Hackett?)

    Yesterday italy has be drawn with Puerto Rico and Lithuania. I think this is the best drawn possible, in roder to have some chance to advance in the OQT AND GET THE TICKET FOR pARIS,i hope to see a roster like this

    Darius Thompson (193 cm)- Alessandro Pajola (195 cm)- Nico Mannion (190 cm)
    Stefano Tonut (192 cm)- Marco Belinelli (196 cm)
    Simone Fontecchio (203 cm)- Gabriele Procida (201 cm)
    Danilo Gallinari (209 cm)-Achille Polonara (205 cm)
    Nicolo Melli (206 cm) -Mohamed Rasoul Diouf (210 cm)- leonardo Tote (211 cm)

    Hasn’t Belinelli retired a few years already?

      Hackett and Belinelli are OUT of this team since some good time... where's Spissu? He will be 100% in the roster, Pozzecco considers him as a son! And i have some doubts about Thompson joining Italian NT... he plays for a turkish team, no need for his passport (like if he was playing for EA7 Milano).

        Thompson > Jokubaitis
        Mannion = Lekavicius
        Pojola = Dimsa
        Tonut < Grigonis
        Belineli = Brazdeikis

        Fontecchio > Butkevicius
        Procida < Ulanovas

        Gallinari < Sabonis
        Polonora < Sedekerskis
        Melli < Valanciunas

        Diouf and Tote never seen them playing . Lithuania end of bench 10-12th will be players somebody from Kuzminskas,Bendzius,Tubelis

        Where italians have advantage is Thompson and Fontecchio in most other positions i would take lithuanian players.

        But Italians is better shooters no doubt and unclear what game plan ltu coach gonna choose do when italians gonna play their small ball.

          As Toxicity said, there's no indications yet that Thomson will surely play for Italy. He would be a big boost. He's a good passer, good decision maker and a good defender for his position. Can score too. But we'll see if he can play which is far from certain ATM.

          If we look at 3pts %, I would rather call Italy a streaky shooting team than a good shooting team. In WC 2023 they stood 27th (from 32 teams) 29,5%. While Lithuania first with 42,2%. In Olympics 2021, Italy was 11th from 12 teams with 31,7%. Only in Eurobasket 2022 Italy shot the ball better than Lithuania, 37.2%, while Lithuania 33.8%. Only % doesn't say all story as Italy takes much more threes than Lithuania does, but I would call Italy a streaky shooting team. They can shoot themselves out and in in certain games. A good shooting team today is Germany which shot at least 38% last 3 tournaments and they took tons of three in their last 2 tournaments (medaling ones).
          LTU NT will snatch Eurobasket 2029 title with this roster:

          Jokubaitis, Marciulionis, Laurencikas
          Indrusaitis, Brazdeikis, Rubstavicius
          Buzelis, Lelevicius
          Murauskas, Sirvydis
          Tubelis, Krivas

            100% agree. Not realiable as pure shooters... and now that Datome (one of the best 3p shooters in Europe) is ritired, the situation is even worse. The most consistent 3p shooter is Spissu who is also the shorter and physically weaker player in the roster... and maybe Gallinari but we cannot be sure if he'll be in the final roster.

              Actually Belinelli is one of the three best sg in the entire Euroleague, i hope to see him next summer with our NT

              Yesterady i watched barcelona-Milano,great improvement in flaccadori that has lead very well milano's offense,but i think that he has few chances to be in the final roster next july

              My starting 5 could be

              Matteo Spagnolo(194 cm)- Stefano Tonut(194 cm)- Simone Fontecchio(203 cm)-Nicolo Melli (206 cm)-Leonardo Tote (211 cm)

              Alessandro Pajola (195 cm)-Nico Mannion (191cm)-Marco belinelli (196 cm)- Gabriele Procida (201cm)-Danilo Gallinari (209 cm)-Achille Polonara (205 cm)-Momo Diopuf(210 cm)

                Donte Di Vincenzo in a recent interview said he is going to play with italbasket next summer. Drew Eubank is another possibility for us

                Pajola-Di Vincenzo-Fontecchio-Melli-Diouf

                I d like this starting 5

                From the bench

                Spagnolo-Mannion-Tonut-Procida-Abass-Gallinari-Tessitori or Tote

                  Is it true that Fontecchio and Procida might miss OQT?

                  What is going on with naturalization? I heard Eubanks was a done deal but nothing official yet.

                    Procida 99% will miss while Fontecchio in the end i think will play (fastidious but not serious injury in a toe)...

                    We have no clear infos about potential naturalized and i highly doubt we can have a player like Eubanks right for the qualifications.

                    Belinelli and Hackett won't play as well, they retired from NT some years ago... i thik Lithuania is the clear favourite to go to Olympics and also Puerto Rico (with Baskonia's Howard) is very dangerous.

                      Lithuania 45% Italy 35% Puerturico 20%

                      Italy with Fontecchio and without him is 2 tottaly diffrent teams. Italy without Fontecchio would have less chance than Puerturico

                      Looking simply on shown results 2021-2023 Italy shown the best results from those 3 NTs and dont think its accident when we take 3 diffrent recent tournaments.

                      Puerturico is unpredictable emotional team that will play at home.

                      Puerturico can beat LTU/Italy in one game when things will go their way,but can they beat LTU and Italy in back to back 2 games unlikely

                        Galinari in or out? At the moment Fontecchio is Italy's franchise players, so a lot will depend on his decision. Also losing Procida is hit. But if there's Gallinario, Fon, Spagnolo, Mannion, Pajola, Tonut, they still have a good team which can cause many trouble.

                        However, fully or nearly fully packed Lithuania is a favorite.

                          Italy wasting a naturalized spot on Eubanks would be the biggest rofl of the decade.

                            I agree... but the % are more likely LIT 60% Italy 25% and Puertorico 15%.
