He probably never asked for the citizenship.
I can't imagine anything else that might force him not to have one.

I didn't understand what you wanted to say regarding our paint problem. It's a national team, you cannot sign all of a sudden Ante Tomic to solve your problems. We have Yaniv Green, Ido Kozikaro & Cubrevich, non of them is in a Eurocup level at the moment. So I didn't understood what do you want from Shivak to do?? Because of our C problem, Tyus will perform as a C, Lior as a PF and Omri as a SF.
paint problem..i meant that israeli population is not so tall so we historically had problems with c and pf. is something we cant solve and nobody is guilty for it,but i guess it was easy to understand what i meant
having a team with no big men to face stronger big men by all over europe,i'd try built a sistel like the one siena plyaed, just based on perimeter. sure, is not optimal to play onedimensional bball, sure, but this way give more chances as siena showed easily even having no c.
could u tell me how many 3 points israel attempt vs georgia and italy?

It's not that with Mekel we would qualify for the top-8 for sure, but surely our chances would increase. We can pass the first group stage, beside France I don't think that we less good then any other NT (Germany without Nowitzky, GB without Deng) and then in the last 12 I hope that we can manage to qualify in a miracle way to the top 8, which will be a huge achievement for us. Our usual problem will be the paint, because we cannot succee when Green & Kozi our C and the new generation is nothing to tell about. So I guess Tyus will perform as 5 and we'll try to maximize it because at the other positions we're definitely OK.
ok, will mekel play european championship?
plus, do our coach, considering our problems in the paint, is basing our teams on a monodimensional perimetral team,as he should,( like siena for example) or not?.if i cant count on the paint why dont base my plans on perimeter?

NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire seeking Israeli citizenship

Stoudemire went to Israel for the Maccabiah and has stayed to apply for citizenship. 'I follow the rules of the Bible that coordinate with and connect with the Hebrew culture,' he says.

What next? Play for the Israeli NT?

So if he's gonna get 10 minutes per game it means that he shouldn't work hard and improve himself? personally I think that a pre-season training with the Mavs players is much better preperation then a Eurobasket tournament, which many euro stars won't even be there, with all do respect.

Of course noone can tell how many minutes he will get, but one can say is it likely for him to get 10, 20, 30 or 40 minutes and judging from the past experience it's easy to say Mekel isn't likely to receive 20 or more minutes per game in NBA. As the schedule and the situation around it is given, it would be beneficial for him to pursue as much bball on high level as he can, as he wouldn't be the first one to deteriorate drasticaly sitting on NBA's bench.

It's a whole different story with players that are playing at least those 20 minutes per game, but rookies shouldn't cancel their NT appearances for their own sake...
I disagree. No one can tell how many minutes will Gal gets and right now he should work hard to improve his game (and there's a lot to improve). The first year is the most difficult one. Look at Casspi. Gave up on the NT, and his first year was his best so far. Mekel should think about his career right now and like I said, he won't be the difference between semi final and elimination anyway.

He's in crucial phase in this career and should focus on that part. The first year as a NBA rookie is the hardest and Mekel have to work super hard in order to continue to gain minutes in Dallas. With or without him we don't have a shot to pass the top 8 (and I'm very generous) so Mekel can give up on one tournament.
