PG - Gal Mekel/Yuval Neimi
SG - Yotam Halperin/Raviv Limonad
SF - Omri Casspi/Tal Burstein
PF - Guy Pnini/David Bluthenthal
C - Lior Eliyahu/Elishai Kadir/Ido Kozikaro
I don't remember when Israel was that deep.
Pnini starting at the 4 and moving Eliyahu to the 5 (and Kadir backing up the 5 - talk about a short lineup) would really make it hard on Israel in the post and defending the post, but everyone has their view.

Pnini started as 4 for Maccabi in Euroleague. So it's not new. And without Green - you really don't have any other option. Maybe, Kuzikaro or Kadir will start, while Eliyahu will come off bench. But you sure don't want to start with Rothbart.
11th Commandment: You shall not say Maccabi is a mediocre team!

Fair enough, but I still think Israel is going to be in trouble if that's their post players. Think I'd rather see Casspi at the 4 then Guy.
On the bright side, David Bluthental has confirmed to Arik Shibek he will join the national team, 10 days after the preparation campaign starts. On the same side, Yaniv Green has met the coach, and has confirmed his participation, pending the treatments he's undergoing. Shibek confirmed Yaniv will join the campaign when the treatments are over.

I hope in the end Ohayon will replace Mekel ( Gal had rather bad season ) , but it seems Katash will take Mekel anyway.
On account of Rothbart : i like him , but he's soooo soft on defense and isn't really improving
In the group of death we face this qualis , I would prefer old fox Kuzi
Yeah, the post positions are going to be (as usual) the whole on the Israeli team. Rothbart has never lived up to his potential - not even close. I'd just go with him over Kuzi for youth and for him to get experience with the team (plus, it doesn't look like Israel will be replacing him with a new 5 anytime soon - waiting for Fischer to get married, or maybe Dane DiLiegro will be better {Eitan Chermininsky and Frederico Ginsburg already played for Argentinal U-21 national teams}).

The way I understand Fisher leaves for Real Madrid, so his naturalization is just a sweet dream
Our federation should organize a national project called "Rothbart" , you know , to give a personal fitness trainer/ nutrition consultant/coach, to build a decent center out of him . In the case they won't , after Kuzi & Green retirement , they will play with twin midget PFs against 2.10+ monsters from Balkan
Who knows maybe Alex Chubrevich will grow into something. More likely to disappear like Kazaranovski before him, and others. Rothbart? I don't see any national effort on this part. Let's face it, we don't know how to raise, keep, and develop centers.

Well, if he still gets married it could help the national team, just not Maccabi, for what, the next two years.

Never considered Chubrevich that much. Surprised of the signing, maybe I should give him another look. Has Anton Shuvton completely disapeared?
It seems Israel's best bet is getting A tall Jew from FSU, the U.S. or Argentina.
There are only Roman Levter and Vitaly Fridzon as Jews in the Superliga. Fridzon plays for the Russian NT and Levter is not on the level of Israeli NT. An easy liberal giyur to a couple of tall US boys should help
