Sofo has 2 years contract for around 700-800K USD per season.

    - Maccabi will never find a team that will pay this amount of money, not even close.

Remember that Maccabi still paying almost 50% of Caner Medly salary this year, so they won't do it again IMO.

    - I don't mind keeping Ohayon if his part will be around 10 minutes per game.

    - Naimi probably will be released soon, because the Israeli league rules says that a player can be loaned to another Israeli league team only if he is under 25 y.o., and he insists playing in Israel this year.

By the way, 2 months ago, the day i heard that Maccabi plans are to loan him to another Israeli team - i wrote on Euroleague forum (rumours thread) that it's forbidden according to the league rules.

I can't believe it took Maccabi management 2 more months to realize this fact. It says a lot about the management (lack of) professionalism .

could somebody stop blatt ? to allow sofo having minutes in el is a damnation for us. faulths, turonovers, easy attempt failed. this is a circus of horrible. absoutely he has nothing to play el and he are suffering him a lot. when we will match better teams, sofo will condamn us. this is the true problem as playmaker position. we'd have a very dangerous team with hick smith ingles blu landesberg(out again yesterday!) james, but minutes by ohayon sofo and rice are a big problem. do federman understand this year we 'd have a small chance to get f4 (just) in case we ll add a playmaker and a c?
ps arriving 1th in this group is absolutely imprtant because we would face just one of three best group a teams. facing just one between cska or fener or barca is a big advantage to get a good place in top 16 group

      • Sofo & James are indeed foul prone, but I'd rather see Bluth switching to C and opening space to guards in the paint then seeing undersized Tyus struggling to score against huge dudes .

Ingles seemed like a messiah coming to Tel Aviv, doing everything - making impossible shots , organizing offense , playing solid defense, until the ball got hot with Rytas "+20 in 15 min" comeback. Too early to judge Ingles clutch-ness, but back in Barca he usually didn't played the first violin in clutch moments: FG 2/4 for 9 games out of 11

One thing is clear, Maccabi cannot play with Ingles @ PG under rival guards press. Rice is still a recovery project , so he needs to be a starter & play a lot of time to get his confidence. Too bad this confidence building takes a toll on both Ohayon & Landesberg . Basically two of them are the only Israeli/Jewish connection left in Maccabi.

        • Rice did well two days ago vs. Hertzeliyya with 21 points and I really hope that this game along with his winner shot in Lithuania will finally loose him up.

rice can score 20 or 25 in one suingle match, but unfortunatly he is not a player u can count on for a whole season as a key player. ohayon -rice plus sofo as c are our greatest problem who avoid us dreaming a f4.

Sylven must improve his defense ASAP to get his chances. Otherwise it would be Eliyahu - 2 all the way: a huge talent in offense - can make points from scratch, but a big hole on the defensive end.

Bad loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv yesterday : lack of PG screams out - 19(!) TOs : http://www.basket.co.il/BoxScore.asp...D=7813&lang=en

Ohayon seems to lose his confidence over "confidence building" for Rice. Ingles seems to "disappear" from hot & tense games with noisy crowd. Only Naimi saved Maccabi from a blowout.

As i said 2 weeks ago, this year Maccabi looks like a mediocre European team:

When the 3's are falling - looks great and fun to watch.

When the 3's aren't falling - looks bad and hopeless.

                  - And what's with the Naimi saga???
Suddenly he plays in the league, when everybody knows Maccabi wants to loan him.

Naimi can't be productive when he knows he is about to be loaned.

If Maccabi wants him in the rotation - great, they should give him significant playing time and announce that he stays and will not be loaned.

If Maccabi wants to loan him - give his playing time to players that will be here fore sure until the end of the season.

Bad situation for both Maccabi and the player at the moment.

(I personally can't understand why Maccabi wants to loan him, after they saw Rice and Ohayon's bad shape)

                  • Happy to see Maccabi losing some games in Israeli league, more competitive for Israeli teams!

I prefer Maccabi to win all the games in Euroleague instead of Israeli league all the time same boring shits!

                    • Ohayon is injured and probably won't play tonight against caja.
I hope naimi will get his minutes to see how he compete.

same old story.this is blatt. when he doesnt like a player,no way, the player is out since the beginning. look at landesberg. look at cohen or shermadini .or what about macvan?look at caner medley actually. he had no chance in mta. even elyahu was preferred to him since the beginning!! he had no chances and actually (as before he came) he is showing all his potential.in the meanwhile ohayon can fail all matches he plays but he will always a key player for him. this is blatt ,are u still surprised?

Ohayon failed all matches ? Ohayon didn't played a minute vs Baskonia , was it better ?

Right now Ohayon is the only Maccabi's playmaker. There was a hope Ingles could help him, but right now it seems Ingles couldn't play well under a slightest pressure.

Maccabi is expected to win every game ( especially in BSL) , so every time they lose - a pressure is mounting up. Some players could play better under such a stress, and some seems to under-perform ( Caner - Medley, Ingles , etc ). Nothing to do here, its built-in players character .

Blatt insistence of not giving significant playing time to Israelis ( Eliyahu case , Pnini , Naimi, Roth ) backfired because Elyahu & Pnini played a big role in Maccabi play-making : Eliyahu & Pnini beat Hickman & Smith in assists per possession . I mean there is an excuse : none of them is a good defender, what's the use of good defense if offense is unable to score?

Another issue : it seems like "all-forwards" roster concept fails big time. Playing with Smith , Blu @ PF is good on the paper, but in reality they cannot grab damn a rebound. Last three games ( Rytas, Pao, Baskonia ) had a rebounding fiesta : 16, 18 , 15 offensive rebounds . Maccabi is out-rebounded even in dwarf Israeli league. It's hard to blame James who is jumping to block every shot , but I expected better rebounding from "PFs" Blu & Smith. It seems they still have SFs mindset and wait for non-existent bigs to box-out & grab rebounds for them.

                            • any salary he earn is too much considering is incredible mediocre value for el. yesterday duo ohayon-rice as playmaker and duosofo-tyus as c, were something hard to remember in el since long time

                              • mta is playing a good el considering big problems we have(ohayon rice sofo)

the fact is having a very bad season in il league is due to stronger il teams comparing with past or what else? (i dont follow il league)
