Breaking News from official site of Lietuvos Rytas - the former club of new MTA coach Neven Spahija. As per Rytas, the man has two signed contracts and the club from Vilnius has requested from ULEB and FIBA revocation of N. Spahija’s coach license and his disqualification!

nothing to be too excited about- Olimpija played with players that'll get loaned this season at least for 15 minutes in this game.
While Jurkovič and Ožbolt didn't even show on court, Arslan and Ranniko got injured pretty fast, so Olimpija played almost exclusevily with youngsters (+Milič, Markoishvilli, Zupan)...

Bynum showed some nice athleticism, he abused Arslan with his strenght in few cases, good penetrations, some great 3pointers...
It seemed that Bufford is sometimes holding onto the ball too much and I got a feeling he could be one of those streaky shooters, but overall a great individual.
Eliyahu was a disspointment to me... he faced Antonio Žižić (Andrija's brother), Rizvič and Maraker most of the time and yet failed to impress me.
overall Maccabi showed some fluid offense, since they practically raped Olimpija's defense on few occasions with nice passing combinations.

eventhough It was obvcious Maccabi hasn't showed everythin they can and it's also obvious this team isn't on the same level Maccabi was for 4-5 years now, it's still a great team imo and is right now getting underated when talking about it in euroleague forum...

It doesn't sound good for us Still we're talking about first trainings when newcomers don't know how to play with each other. It will take some time.

cousins? I remember that some journalist 2 years ago wrote down they were brothers. thanx for correction...

the game wasn't broadcasted, so I had to go in the arena.
As far as statistics goes I don't think they were published anywhere online... I've read somewhere Olimpija won the rebounding 27-29 (Zupan got 7)

as for Bufford, he showed he is athletically superior to most players in europe, showed some good ballhandling, defense, got injured with his dunk attempt (supposedly nothing serius, since after lying down on the floor he walked away normally after a minute or so), has a decent long range... but as I said looked like a player with typical US mentality
just my impressions after one game only of course

I wouldn't be worried about your team (eventhough I know you guys expect a tottally new team fighting for the title again ), Maceo's departure is visible though. I think Maccabi's defense might loose a lot with him departing...

Hope they"ll find some NBA summer camp refugees

In few more weeks we"ll see, who's going to be instead of Baston...
Jamie is good player, but he's not a huge blocker like Mace was...

They published here Rytas attorney's letter to FIBA - it's so stupid - they telling that Spahija just suddenly did not show up for beginning of season... Why they signed Sharon Druker than? They just try to blackmail some more money...

                      Short interview with Spahija

"Maccabi is probably the biggest in Europe considering the organisation of the club. The expectations are always high."

"We are missing two important players, Tal Burstein and another power forward which will come from NBA. We are also a little bit out of form considering we didn't have much time for preparations."

"Will Bynum proved he is the real deal, but I think he can play even better. Bufford is also quality player, but he needs some time to adapt. I must not forget Halperin. I wouldn't come to Maccabi if he wouldn't come back."

He was talking the same thing last year about the organization of "Lietuvos rytas", which was "definitely the best in Europe", and he "did not know any other place where the conditions for work would be more perfect". Now he is having a legal case with the club Goog luck, Tel Aviv!

Maccabi will be with a PF in those games (not against Climamio on Friday).

It was 29-26 in rebounds for Olimpija; Zupan correct.
