On a soccer/football site they were listing Jewish non-Israeli players that would help the league. I was wondering the same about the IBL. Especially with the new rediculous foreign rules:
Jordan Farmar - U.S. Though the likelyhood of him ever coming to Israel depends on his NBA career. With Tal Burstein and David Bluthenthal, the best Jewish baller in the world.
David Bluthenthal - U.S. Seems only Maccabi Tel-Aviv can get him (as long as they are the only team in the EL). Wants to go to the NBA. Possibly could. Though as the years go, he has less of a chance. Maybe see him back one day.
Jon Sheyer - U.S. Duke freshman compared to JJ Redick a lot. Not as good as a shooter, but more of a complete game at this state in his career. Reminds me of Sani Becirovic. Smart, but not that athletic. Combo guard. Could be solid EL player.
Dan Grunfeld - U.S. Son of legendary Ernie Grunfeld. Solid fundamentals. Can play the 2 or 3. Surprised no Israel team has signed him yet (considering Scott Greenman has been signed).
Alex Bougaieff - Canada. Solid center. Has been playing in Itay, and has improved his game from year to year. While in college he was on the radar of a few Israel teams. Guess he got more money elsewhere.
Juan Espil - Argentina. Great shooter, no D. Getting up there in years.
Facundo Sucatzki - Argentina. Solid shooter, great team leader. Can dish the ball to players (gets lots of assists), though small (5-9). Also getting up there in age.
Eric Gingold - U.S. Extremely tall and extremely unathletic.
Harrison Shaen - U.S. At one time was considered one of the top recruits coming out of high school. However, he is extremely smart and basketball doesn't seem to be is priority. Which explains why his Ivey League career hasn't been that impressive.
Seth Hauben - U.S. Strong and athletic. Not the tallest for a 4/5, but big enough for Israel. Was elected NCAA D-III POY two years in a row.
Chanan Colman - Denmar. I think one of his parents is Israeli - not sure. Don't know much about him. He is supposedly quick and athletic. Born in 84. Much potential.
Andrew Ecker - U.S. Don't know much about him. Big guy. 6-10, 240. "True post presence on offense and defense."
Alexander Kvitnitsky - Ukraine. DOn't know much about him either. Supposedly good all around forward. Solid rebounding and defense.
Robert Rothbart - Bosnian. Tall with a lot of potential. At one time recruit of Indian (NCAA), but left for the NBA draft - wasn't drafted. Plays in France.
Gabe Frank - U.S. Played in the NBADL, but I haven't seen much of him. Nothing special, but competant.
Paul Vitelli - U.S. Holds Italian passport. Solid, but not spectacular player. Good shooter and fundamentals. Plays in Italy.
Many more American players in college, but the others I don't see doing much.
Not sure if they are Jewish:
Fernando Goldbarg (Argentina)
Mariano Silverberg (Argentina)
Benjamin Cohen (France)
Jean-Phillipe Cohen (France)
Maurizio Cohen (Venezuela/Italy)
Robert Levy (Canada)
Mats Levin (Sweden) - I doubt it.
Evan Gold (U.S.)
On another note; are there any Israeli arab players that show any potential. I know the game isn't that big in the arab communities (in Israel), but has there been any advancement in interest or just football (soccer)?
