CK13's posts in the Sacramento Kings thread reminded me of some research I did 15 years or so ago about early Jewish basketball players in the US. I can't find the paper that I wrote nor some of the sources.
I'm looking for an article in the New York Times from the early part of the 20th century. It was about Jewish basketball playaers and it had some fascinating quotes.
I'm paraphrasing here, but the article said something like "the Jew will always dominate the sport of basket ball. On account of his shifty eyes and conniving ways, the game is tailor-made for the Jew."
Has anybody found similar articles or those kinds of blatantly racist quotes in newspapers talking about Jewish players? If so, could you please provide some links or the articles? I'm just curious to read them again.
