I think that many players are over average offensive EL players. This is what makes Greece dangerous offensively. Sure, you are going to guard Sloukas and Giannis with the best of your abilities. But are you going to give Papanikolaou, Mitoglou, Calathes, Papagiannis, Walkup a free pass?

Even if I grant that Sloukas is injured. I doubt that he would have been absent in a Greek Finals game in this condition. Goes to show that our league derby and the mentality of our players is toxic. Our president might have something to do with that. Many journalists as well. They are all in this toxic club bubble which is largely irrelevant. As if CSKA, Armani Milano, or Efes winning the Euroleague would be indicative of Russian, Italian or Turkish success in basketball. Much less winning the national league titles. Completely irrelevant. The NBA is by far the strongest league in the world, but we are talking about other countries catching up because of team USA’s performance in recent years. Not the NBA teams.

Some players are corrosive to the Greek basketball. They lack that eye of the tiger in order to play for the National Team. That eye of the tiger that I.e. the Spanish team had for one and a half decade. Or Ginobili’s Argentina.

Young Greek players should join teams other than Pao or Oly in order not to get into this toxic environment.
