Ioannis Sfairopoulos is a bridge between generations of great basketball coaches and the Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv head coach is happy to be the conduit of knowledge from generation to generation.

Sfairopoulos, 54, served as an assistant under coaching greats such as Petar Skansi, Giannis Ioannidis, Jonas Kazlauskas, Panagiotis Giannakis, Zvika Sherf and Pini Gershon. He also can point to players whom he once coached who are now wearing suits and ties as professional coaches.

Its getting even worse! Skourtopoulos is also candidate.

    -He failed with China NT
He only failed at Oly because he faced the strongest PAO team ever.

    Saras, 3D
    Spanoulis, Hatzivrettas, Drew Nicholas,
    Perperoglou,
    Tsartsaris, Fotsis
    Peko, Batiste.

That was a mean team for 2 seasons.

Giannakis is the perfect NT coach.

    - He has the respect of all
    - Greek Legend
    - Most games ever played for Greece
    - Most games coached for Greece
    - Will support a player psychologically
    - Has a fantastic resume with Gold medal, Silver medal and semi finals.
    - His pinnacle is that he is the last coach to beat TEAM USA. Beat them at their own game too (offence)

  • Giannakis or Missas the better coach for NT EC 2017

I have a verbal dispute going on with a good friend. We are discussing if Giannakis (if he would have been available) would have been the better coach for the NT in comparison with Missas. Or if there is no difference in quality betweeen Giannakis and Missas.

I am arguing that if no other professioal coach like Itoudis is available than Giannakis should have been the prefered choice. My friend says Giannakis or Missas makes no difference.

    What is your opinion?
