Was Dirk's 53 points the most ever by a European player in the NBA?

I don't think a player from Europe has ever scored 50 or more in the NBA before last night, when Nowitzki poured in 53 points against Houston.

What about the late Drazen Petrovic? What was his career high in the NBA?

Good question. I tried to find out yesterday, but I couldn't get anything conclusive. The only two other European players that I could imagine scoring more than 50 are Petrovic and Stojakovic.

Last night, I think I heard the ESPN studio commentators say that only 5 players born outside the US have scored at least 53 points: Dominique Wilkens (France), Tim Duncan (Virgin Islands), Hakeem Olajuwan (Nigeria), and...I can't remember the other 2.

    Did anybody else here that?

If Drazen had more time, he'd probably get 53 and more.

That game worthed really to watch, not only 53's Nowitzki, also 48's Mc Grady... amazing!!!

Definitely Nowitzki wants to compensate himself for the last season, a bit modest, we know.

I had no idea that 'Nique was born in France. Wow, you guys really know your stuff. Well, I think he scored more than 53 at some point in his career. As for Peja, I know he's had a few 40+ points games but never 50, I'm quite sure.

You're right, his career high was 41 vs. Memphis 12/23/03... I though he had a better record

Petrovic's career high in the NBA is 44 points against the Houston Rockets.

Dominique Wilkens (France), Tim Duncan (Virgin Islands), Hakeem Olajuwan (Nigeria), Ewing
These guys should not count, they all played for the USA and I consider most of them American anyway.

I know what you mean. All of them played for US Senior Teams at some point in their careers. But Olajuwan has always remained close to his North Nigerian roots, and he has moved back their and bought an estate, so I would say he's a different case.

Great list, Almantas. I really like it! Just out of curiosity, why don't you include the guys like Palacio, Nash or Mutombo?

Cause I dont consider them international? Toronto is a part of NBA, so Canada also. So Nash and Magloire are out. And other guys like Flores, Palacio, Mutombo, Olowokandi etc I just dont know their background much, for me they seem more american and if they were only born in Africa, but lived most of their lives in States...
