The Mavs has drafted Rodrigue Beaubois at #25.

There were a lot of raised eyebrows after the announcement was made especially that the Mavs have an emerging point guard in JJ Barea

Barea is more of a tiny point guard. Beaubois is much longer (big wingspan, good size for a combo guard) with worst court vision but with much more offensive tools in his pocket (drive, fast break game, 1/1 game, off screen play, etc).
The pg tools can be developed even if he's more of a "chalmers" bet i think, a guy which is above all here to defend fast pg's (such as parker. In San antonio, texas. In case some doubt of the interest )

We will see what he will produce in off season (SL & preparation games) but i am confident, he has a lot of what a young prospect needs to become a decent nba player.

I just hope a franchise will be able to sign both batum & beaubois some day as they really have a game that match perfectly.

Mavs like him a lot and if he will have perfect tutor in Jason Kidd. From physical point of view he is Top 3 PG from this draft

In his second Vegas summer league game, Beaubois scored 34 points, which is a summer league high, this year.

          Beaubois

Beaubois blew up in the summer league and looks to have a bright NBA future ahead of him as long as he plays within his capabilities. Beaubois is an explosive athlete with a pretty three point stroke but he needs to establish some more point guard/ floor vision skills. Looks to me though he could make some noise coming off the bench this year as a scorer and then learn from Jason Kidd as the year goes on.

Batum again has problems with his shoulder.
Patty Mills attends his first practice since being named to the regular season roster, Rudy Fernandez returns from back spasms and Nicolas Batum dings his shoulder.

I will definitely watch the Mavs and the potential of Rodrigue Beaubois. He has impressed even the division rivals of the Mavs. What a steal from the draft.

Tony Parker talked about the title recently in L'Equipe I think.

Well BasketNews made an article about the revenge of Tony against the Spanish players in the NBA.
He'll definitely try to show he is the best foreign player in the league.

I just hope he'll keep revenge for WC 2010...

Round-Up: Beaubois Has Fan In Fellow Frenchman Parker

A lot can happen to a player in a very short period of time.

Just consider Rodrigue Beaubois, an explosive guard in last season's Cholet squad who helped the club reach the EuroChallenge Final in Bologna.

Several months on from competing at the Final Four, the 21-year-old Beaubois is a starter in the backcourt of the Dallas Mavericks, playing in the same team with Dirk Nowitzki.

Beaubois raised eyebrows last season when he hit 42.5% (31 of 73) of his shots from three-point range in the EuroChallenge but his sudden rise to stardom in the NBA has caught many people by surprise.

A lot of people didn't think he'd even make the Dallas roster this year.

France playmaker Tony Parker says his countryman has a very bright future.

"He looks very talented. Good thing for the national team," Parker said.

Parker made those comments before watching Beaubois play for Dallas against San Antonio.

After that contest, in which Beaubois played 17 minutes and scored eight points as Dallas won, Parker said: "It was the first time I saw him play.

                    "Rodrigue is very talented.

"He was aggressive. He had a very good game. He did a good job considering his time (on the court)."

Beaubois spoke to FIBA Europe before last season's Final Four and we asked him about playing for France.

"It is a goal that is close to my heart and if one day I am selected, I will do my best to help the French national team," he said.

Expect that to happen in the very near future, possibly as early as next summer when France play at the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

How come Sene (I know he is not french, but he is playing in France) never got his chance in the NBA ?

I can't believe he was even after Petro in Seattle's hierarchy.
I discovered him only a few weeks ago, but this guy already showed much more than the likes of Petro, Ajinca or Mahinmi ever did.

(and when I see how rubbish Petro was this summer with the NT, I don't understand why Sene is the one who was kicked out of the NBA this year)

Petro has a jump shot and does not waste so much close to the rim. Even if you wonder why m'benga is still useful to the fakers (especially when both gasol & bynum can't play) while sene does not interest any franchise - did i say that offensively he's a non factor, he would turn przybilla into stoudemire if you consider his low post moves/skill.
Shame though, even worst shame that asv*l or orleans did not grab him when they could considering how they suffer under their rim.

Joakim Noah fined $15,000 for throwing the ball out of frustration into the stands and hitting a photographer during the Bull's lost against the Raptors.
