  • France, USA tangling in NYC?

I was watching the Orlando-Atlanta game on NBA TV this evening and one of the announcers made the comment that Team USA and France are to play an exhibition game in New York, at Madison Square Garden, in preparation for the WC. I don't know whether this is confirmed or not, but I'm willing to roll to NYC to check this one out. These two haven't played since the gold medal match at the 2000 Olympics, so it's intriguing to see how these teams match-up since they don't play against each other that often.

hmm depending on my college situation, i might consider going...if i decide to attend st. john's, then it makes it easy.
Should be a great game though. I remember watching the game as an 8 year old and when Vince Carter went Air France over Frederic Weis, I was jumping all over the place. VC was my favorite player at the time and of course, every human, little or adult, loves a spectacular dunk.!

I have heard of this tune up match. Articles from New York Times mentioned it a lot of times but a date has not been confirmed.

I read it the other days in a puertorican newspapers. Its going to be a doubleheader because before the USA-France, China and Puerto Rico are going to play. By the way, Puerto Rico and China are in Group D in Turkey.

The only thing the US-France have in common in New York is the Statue of Liberty! A US-Puerto Rico match-up would've been much more livelier, given the huge Puerto Rican population in NYC and all the support that would've followed. Plus, the Puerto Ricans usually give the US a good game, so the atmosphere would be awesome in a close game.

Actually, to benefit all four teams, they should just turn it into a mini, round robin tournament, similar to the Merchand Cup.

You can add noah - born & raised in nyk afaik - though, if he's to play for us during the summer (/points at bull's GM ..?).
Pretty sure he would "die" to play such a game (especially if he can dance along the bench during the game while watching lbj ^^ /jk).
