FB had a critical advantage. Efes was very tired and had had the tougher way to the finals and the Final Four before the BSL finals and the Turkish player rotation of FB was way more experienced than of Efes.

I can't agree that Fener has better domestic part of the team. In terms of quality, on one side Larkin or other side Hazer, Tarik, Birsen, Melih and Ahmet, In any time of the day night or whatever I would choose Larkin alone. But it's true that except Larkin Efes's domestic players are joke and unusable in serious way.

But shorter rotation wasn't such problem because Ataman often plays with 7 players important games. This time happened that Fener had 3 top performers and Efes not.

That's why is so important to keep De Colo and try to keep even Vesely, Guduric is under contract. Booker and Turkish players should stay also, except Melih(but he will stay until retire).

New PF and new PG is priority. Mickey and Calathes should be ok

And the most important is to know who is OUR COACH.

Any sane person chooses Larkin over all Turkish rotation of Fener That's not the point though. Fener was lucky to have various joker players during the series. One game Biberovic, another game Mahmutoğlu. Efes is already too dependent on Micic and Larkin. When things are not going well with them, they couldn't find another option to run the things on court unlike Fener. You would do that with another foreign players in Euroleague, but the quality of your game is bound up with the quality of your domestic players at one point in Turkish league.

Fener's domestic core totally outplayed Efes' one, of course speaking with excluding Larkin. 113 EFF from Fener's Turkish players in comparison to 69 EFF from Efes. Huge difference.

This will be the first time Itoudis will coach a team with a great fan base. Both CSKA and Banvit were lacking in considerable amount of fan base. If he can obtain positive results in sportive manner, he will definitely be worshiped like Obradovic. He has that leadership charisma.

I actually remember Banvit having some really passionate fans when I used to watch their EuroCup games. But yes, Fener's fandom is a whole different league!

Yes, right Good old Banvit used to fill its arena almost all the time. But, that was rather a local support of small Bandırma city.

Massive fandom is something Itoudis familiar with Panathinaikos' times, yet as a head coach this will be the first time he will side with this kind of support.

that's a two-edged sword, though. he may be sacked after 10 games, too

                  Yeah kind of over-pressure aswell.

Especially Fener football fans are a laughing stock. Whenever they choke in football (Every single year I mean), they point a finger at basketball branch by showing a reason of high budget Itoudis will have to deal with this moronic attitude.

Big upgrade for Fener is Itoudis over this idiot Kokoskov who damaged us with his transfers and left like a pussy.

I know that Itoudis will make some bad decisions too(like keeping Melih), he did that in CSKA also btw, but nobody is perfect. Until now he looks very serious and seems he is a man with a plan

Biggest piece Fener was missing was a combo who can stretch the defense and Wilbekin is the most dangerous 3-point weapon outside the NBA, so I'd say it's a good fit

Dmitry Shakulin, the former CSKA coach, isn't too impressed with Itoudis.

Former coach of CSKA and the Russian national team Dmitry Shakulin spoke critically about the former head coach of the army team Dimitris Itoudis , who could not lead the Greek team to the EuroBasket 2022 semi-finals.

“I believe Itoudis is a divine manager and administrator. He controls all processes, almost dismisses and appoints the driver of the club bus. In this vein. And as a head coach, he once again did not show himself in any way. In terms of composition, Germany did not exactly surpass Greece, but Gordy Herbert completely outplayed his counterpart.

With CSKA, the Greek won two Euroleague titles, regularly led the team to the Final Four...

The first championship was presented to him by Viktor Khryapa, who saved the lost coaching match with Fenerbahce. He won his second title with De Colo, Rodriguez and Higgins at their peak. It was the strongest squad in the modern history of CSKA. Not bad, yes. And how many problems did CSKA have under Itoudis, how many expensive players did not show themselves in Moscow? Or his conflict with Mike James, who ruined the whole season for the army team. And the team paid a salary to the American when he was already a Monaco player,” Shakulin said in an interview with Sport-Express.

It's a reasonable point that some major signings didn't work out in CSKA under Itoudis (Shengelia in particular) and that's a pretty sobering thought for Fener. That said, Shakulin left CSKA in 2014, presumably after Itoudis was hired, so maybe there is some grievance remaining over his departure.
