  • coach obradovic's 7th title with us. YES!

i congratulate besiktas and ufuk sarica, they fought hard! they deserved to win at least 2 games. i did not expect this series to be so difficult.

cedi osman is a basketball player who routinely fails to score from the foul line and will make you lose the game while under pressure. he is mentally weak and overrated.
calathes probably has better a 3-point percentage than cedi osman's free throw percentage and honestly, that's hilarious.

    • Congrats on an amazing season. Winning a tough domestic championship right after a Euroleague title is very impressive.

                  • Just saw this analysis, I am not an expert about basketball, but i always felt that, this game requires intelligence and lots of training. I will watch the games with a different aspect from now on.

                    • Old in-bounds play from Mirko Novosel that was picked up by Ivkovic and passed on Obradovic. It's been in our NT playbook for 20+ years. Actually when you start going for a coaching license, you will study it.

So all the credit to great Mirko Novosel.

                      • Season ticket number for 2017-2018 has reached 6600 per official statement. I think they will stop at 7000 or 7500 (capacity is 12000). By the way prices of sections that sold out are huge for Turkey, like ranging from 2 to 20 minimum monthly wages...

                        • I think Sarica should come to us as assistent coach. That could be good opportunity for him to improve and to get the real chance to win something in future when Obradovic leave some day.

Let's be honest, he has to be an idiot to do it. He is not a 28 year old assistant with hopes of future success. He is a 45 year old coach which has already achieved things in basketball (title with KSK, this season by Besiktas etc.) and he has a lot of experience in basketball, being a player. So for him it's crucial to improve his decision making, knowledge and experience. For that he needs to run a team of his own.

Being a lackey to Obradovic is not the way. That is a job for a talented young guy who either just finished his playing career or is showing talent working for kids or something and wants to make a switch to seniors. If you want somebody to inherit Obradovic, you should hope that they are already a great coach before they get there and accomplish things without him. So you should hope for Sarica to do well in Besiktas or anywhere else, so when Obradovic retired you can lure him in.

I don't see Turkish part of the staff around Obradovic could continue his work here. At the same time I don't see the guy which corresponds to the description you gave.
One or two titles in future means nothing if we don't make our own system and coaching stuff is in the first place.
Sarica is good coach but Obradovic is more then coach. Every educated coach in the world knows maybe the same as him regarding tactics, moves etc, but there is something that he see what rest of us don't.
Including you, no offence I don't claim he is a God. but let be realistic for a moment. In every job when you make 3 or 4 times better result then your close opponent then you are something special.
Aleksandar Nikolic started, Duda continued and Zeljko took the most of that maybe because of his 'crazy' temperament or something else I don't know. The only thing I exclude is luck.
I just think that for Sarica is good to be lackey to Obradovic for couple years and learn the system not coaching and tactics.

Yes but you have to remember one thing. Obradovic stopped playing and IMMEDIATELY became a HC of Partizan. He had somebody in the background (Aca Nikolic) to advise him but he was THE GUY. Duda Ivkovic is the same story, he was HC in his early thirties as well. Those coaches developed into great ones because they started early, kept improving and innovating and had responsibility and high goals as THE GUYS in the team. They were nobody's lackeys. They did have older coaches as mentors and somebody to talk to, but they did it as the lead guys.

Sarica is 45, this kind of mentoring you are talking about is done much earlier and asking him to take a back seat now is just a bad decision and it will have reverse effect.
