Euroleague 2009-2010 Predictions Game

The game officially starts today 13.10.2009.

Please pay attention that the Euroleague season will start in 2 days with Maccabi - Olimpija game (October 15, 20:00 CET ) , so if you don't want to lose your points for that game , please submit before the game begins.

The rules:

As usual, one has to predict each game final score points difference and the winner : positive points difference implies home team win, negative - visitor team win.

The points for each prediction were slightly modified from the last season:

• your guess of the winning team is correct = points equal to the winning team's odds
• you guessed the exact points difference of the final score (and still your team has won) you get 3 extra points
• incorrect points difference by 1 pts (your team has won) = 2 extra poits
• incorrect points difference by 2 pts (your team has won) = 1 extra points
• incorrect points difference by 3 pts (your team has won) = 0.5 extra points
• your guess is wrong, the team you've picked has lost the game = minus 1 pts.

Please pay attention that this season you don't play on your own only but also as a part of your country team and your favorite Euroleague club team.

2. Q: I'm late . May I submit my prediction for the rest of the round's games after the dead time?
   
   A: Yes you can. Navigate your browser to http://www.interbasket.net/euroleagu...ex.php?round=1 (for the first round , change 1 to 2 for the second and so on) . Leave a zero score difference for the games that already started , fill the other fields. Note that late predictions colored red in the predictions list and initially are not counted . After a verification that your submission is within the rules your predictions will be counted and their color will be white as usual.
   
   
3. Q: There will be no internet access for me in next week (month, year) . May I submit my predictions early?
   
   A: Yea, use the same technique as late predictions , just change the round number to the future rounds , e.g. http://www.interbasket.net/euroleagu...ex.php?round=2 Your points for these predictions will be calculated as usual, no verification needed.
   
   
4. Q: I'm registered as proud member of Afghanistan team, why my points aren't added to Afghanistan average?
   
   A: To avoid possible cheating issues ( registration for a rival team in order to lower their points ) it was decided that only IBN registered members with a 20+ number of posts may be counted as team participants . If you feel your predictions should be counted for your team , please post a message in this thread to confirm your predicition game username .
   
5. Q: I have doubts in the game fairness , may I see how my points for a certain round are calculated ?
   
   A: You can see the amount of points you get for a certain game and a certain round by visiting

6. Q: Somehow I missed the game's beginning. May I start playing from X round ?
   
   A: Of course. You may probably be a way behind the game leaders, but you can contribute to your country/favorite club team. B)
   
   
7. Q: I missed this round prediction. Does it mean that I hurt my team by adding a zero to the team average ?
   
   A: Nope, in the case you missed a round, your points won't be added to teams average.
   
   
8. Q: How I can check the scores of some particular round?

By "everywhere" do you mean to add country and team fields in users' score list with the ability to sort by that fields ( name, team, country) ?

Let me see, what functionality would it add ... it will help to calculate the averages by team, country and that's all , isn't it?

It would be a hell of the table : there are 23 rounds with final4 included, so considering ~ 50 active users, it would be 50 lines, 23 rows table ... kinda too big to be fitted on the screen

Functionality - basically the same as today scores lists , but poured into one table

Well all this stuff is just a tool to facilitate the scores verification ... i don't think it worth the effort to implement it . What i can do is to generate such tables on request and publish them as Excel files or something after each game phase (regular season, top16 and so on )

Well, I'm always a fan of "friendly interface", but if any stuff makes a hell of a work - O.K. we can skip those "upgrades"

Anyway, until the game starts, I don't know for sure how the results of teams and countries will look like, and how "friendly" the interface will be

I've tested adding extra fields to users' score pages

Now it looks this way: ( place , name, score )

After adding extra fields : ( place, name , team, country , score )

The page with extra fields looks a way overloaded with data (team, country). Those extra fields draws unnecessary attention from a real thing data ( place, name, score ) to the point that it takes a while to figure out how much points got some particular user.

Changing it to ( place, name , score , team, country ) doesn't help either : now it takes a time to find out which of columns contains points' data

Not to mention that this addition interferes with copying top5 users to this thread
