When will the new season's fantasy game start? Do you know?
[I took the liberty of moving the posts from the other thread, that way we have ourselves a thread for the 08-09 season. rikhardur]

I think it is time to have a new thread about 08-09 season. I didn't join IBN league last year but i was 109th overall and 4th in Turkey, i expect a better season.

Papaloukas, Jasikevicius and Diamantidis are way overpriced.

Papaloukas is too old and the two PAO guards will have to share the time on court.

I think that Omar Cook would be the guard to choose, while Steffen Hamann is a very good option too.

Jiri Welsch and Casey Jacobsen have a nice price from the second category in my opinion, while from the big men I think Teletovic and Velickovic are well priced.

So so far I would choose Cook, Hamann, Welsch, Jacobsen, Teletovic, Velickovic.

As for ALBA, I'd recommend Immanuell McElroy. A good allrounder, will fill out the statsheet.

Ilyasova is way too low imo.

Calloway could be worth a gamble.

Most of the PGs are historically way overpriced in this game. Some of the prices are just ridiculous, like but not excluded to the ones available here. Sheer disinterest and incompetence aside, I wonder why they don't use a format like the NBA Stock Exchange format which sets player prices based on market buy/sell mechanism? Bah, oh well.

Is there an IBN league this year? I'm going to be the admin of a RaptorsChat.ca league, but I wouldn't mind losing to some people here, too.

The whole fantasy league thing isn't as professional here in Europe as it is in North America. They probably just put together some numbers without thinking too much about it. No big deal.

No, it's not a big deal and it's just fun to do (and it's a great way for me to get more familiar with the production of this league in a fun and quick way) but it could be done so well without spending a fortune and would make the league look good.

                    Bah, oh well.

Oh its on, damn i can't wait, this year i will have one team over 200 i swear lol.

Ilievski from Olimpija should be a good pick as he will get a lot of minutes and a lot of touches on PG.
Damn Jenings is expensive i was hoping i would get him on the low.
But i will spend the most on my PG for sure because PG that produce are the hardest to get in this fantasy game oh and SGs because the mostly shoota nd don't do anything else.

By my reckoning, at his price level there's at least four or five preferable options.

And his production will probably be crap, because Lottomatica ain't gonna be doin' a whole lot of winnin' this year (so scrap the 10% bonus) and he's kind of a bonehead. I'd say give him a big pass.

It's true that PGs who produce anything are fairly hard to come by, but I think you could easily get a mid-range PG on the cheap and save the money and invest it better elsewhere. An average cost-per-point is about 5 credits for a lot of good players, so if you lose 6 ppg of production from your PG but save 40 credits, you're ahead.

I think the productive PG is the fool's gold of this game - but I've only played it one year (and I was a week late getting in and got frustrated easily ), but we'll see what happens this year.

Yeah Ilievski is expensive however he will avrage at least 14ppg this year adding about 3 assists and a few fouls against. Jenings played really well in the preparation games, and i think you can get really good players at the PF and C spot for cheap like Sow and Batista and such.

My general stratregy is the same as in NBA Stock Exchange: invest the first two weeks or so in guys with low cost and potential to increase in value. Sow was definitely on my radar, along with a few others - but generally my view is to minimize my cost with the PGs and maximize it elsewhere where the gains are greater numerically - although perhaps not so much marginally.

I'm still working through with a friend as to the best strategy. My general feeling is that "punting" PGs and just taking whatever mediocre production at low cost you can get is the way to go, but only our results at the end of the year will speak to that in a fairly clear manner.

Thats definitely a good point and a good strategy.

I wonder how the guys that win it in the end do it lol. I think luck has a lot to do with it too. However i am not pro i started last year and really got into it this year i only want to get over 200
