  • Euro club's budget 2007/08

Time for a new version of my favourite thread.

To make something clear, ussually the budgets are meant as a whole ammount for the club to function and not just spendings on players, since in the past there was a big confusion about that.
Also note that tax policies of the countries and costs of living, level of wages in economy in various countries plays a big role in it, so 5 mio € in Germany or France isn't as strong budget as 5 mio € in Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia or Turkey.

    Olimpija - 4 mio €, aprox. 1.5 mio € for players
(still unclear, but reportedly they'll manage to find some new sponsors, letting Union Brewery go after 10 years, with big part of the budget going for financial sanation)

    Helios - 1 -1.1 mio €

Slovan - 0.8-0.9 mio € (their budget might heavily depend on the buyouts)

Prokom Trefl Sopot - kind of open budget, but looking at signings probably around 10-11 mln USD for now. Still they will have extra money for signing 5th big men if necessary, plus for other "extreme situations"...

Turk Telekom Ankara - 16 mln USD.

ASK Riga budget this season was between 2 and 2.2 millions euros. ASK was Latvian champions. GM said that he expects next season budget will get bigger by 30%, so it'll be approximately 2.8 millions. At max budget will be 3 millions euros (depends on sponsors).

After 7 years of winning Latvian league, Ventspils stopped it's reign on Latvian basketball courts. But team said that budget hopefully won't get smaller. So I expect that Ventspils budget will be around 2 millions euros.

Both Rytas and Zalgiris officially claim that their budgets are ~5mln euros, though i have no doubt both clubs are lying and both of theirs budgets are bigger

Siauliai budget will be over 1mln euros this year

Neptunas should be somewhere over 0,5mln euros

other LKL budgets are even smaller.

MSB (Le Mans Sarthe Basket) will do with a 5.2 M€ budget (5% loss from 2006/2007). Salary part counts for about 2.5M€.

Roanne is expected to have a 3.5M€ budget (50% increase) from which 1M€ should be adressed to the salary part.

          That's for EL french teams.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's budget is $15M. Similar to last year's. Estimated to be the 12th in Europe.
What interests me is not only the budget of the teams, but also their balance. Don't think there is one with a positive balance, at least not among the major ones. Maccabi, usually one of the most profitable teams in Europe, only managed to be balanced 3 years ago, when it hosted the F4.

No wonder, Rannikko will earn 1M€ / season.

as far as I remember he signed for 1 mio € in two years, eventhough in the mid season rumours were he was getting an offer from Khimki for a million per year.

                      budget is required

                          Just to give an idea;

I know Beşiktaş Cola Turka gets 2 mio USD from Ülker company, and that's their major income, if not only. Coach Ataman was saying "if only I could have a budget of 3-4 mio USD".

The same source (turkbasket.com) says Galatasaray Cafe Crown gets the same amount ($2m), and Fenerbahçe benefits an amount twice of that ($4).

As I said, these are only from the main sponsor, Ülker. The teams' whole budgets are not disclosed usually.

Fener and Efes probably have budgets over 10 mio USD.

Looks like BC Zadar, who will play in ULEB cup upcoming season, will have around 1 millions euros budget and it could reach 1.2 millions.
