European Competitions 2023/24 - Signings & Rumours
it's confirmed, yeah. I don't know the guy, but his profile is a bit lower than what you'd expect.
so far, Efes added Willis, Erkan Yilmaz, Tyrique Jones, and extended E. Bryant, Beaubois. (According to Ataman's interview, he wanted both of these players in PAO, but Efes increased their salaries and he did not want to go into a bidding war.).
Dogus Balbay, Bugrahan Tuncer (to Galatasaray), Egehan Arna (to Besiktas), Singleton are leaving. Micic is 99% gone, and Dunston probably retires (with a jersey retirement ceremony).

Actually i'm glad with new signings even though i didn't watch all of them, but good feedbacks on their athletism and defensive skills. At least seems good players in a lower budget.
Good to see no more; Balbay, Tuncer, Arna, Haltalı and Singleton. About Dunston, agree with you. Micic's leaving is the only handicap, imho.
I probably don't fit into your neutral people group, but I'd say it's somewhere in between. not a title favorite, but better than last year. I guess F4?
you need a solid center, IMHO. it's quite thin at the moment.
Papagiannis possible instead of Jekiri.
I think Motley is the best offensive center in Euroleague.
We need a defensive one...
There are such rumors but Panathinaikos should want Calathes for that.
U know better if there is interest from Pao.
Is there?
During the season it was said that PAO would be interested in Calathes, in case he left Fener but Calathes' name is not mentioned anymore as PAO's transfer target.
I hope that he didn't cost us a lot of money. Do we know exactly how much?
No, I don't know the amount but for a player that is meant to be your 3rd option at C with a very limited skillset (also he's not *that* young) I think that anything over 300k is a lot I really hope he puts some work in to develop his rebounding and rim protection and ideally get a decent midrange jumper but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If I'm not wrong, Thanasis had signed for 700k total for 2 years, so I expect something similar for Kostas.
We keep signing our 3rd and 4th options, so it makes me wonder about who we can manage to sign as starters. Let's see if Ataman's accomplishements and DPG's money can bring the players we hear that the team targets.

Dont worry Corona time made DPG even richer than he was. He has more money than he could spend.
The issue with Pao at the moment isn't money (at least it seems like it). The issue is that the team has been in a downward spiral for the past decade and basketball is a small world. I'm not saying things like "Ugh, no one would ever want to come to Pao", no. But if you're a player that has comparable offers from Pao and a different team you might ask around "hey what is it like working with these people?" and some replies (depending on who you ask) might not be that great.
I don't want to hop on the optimism train just yet (I've been burned consecutive years) but there are some significant differences from past years. The biggest one is that we signed a top-shelf coach. I'm not judging his tactical prowess (not the biggest fan) but Ataman is a proven winner and with this he can carry himself with a lot more confidence around the organization. Not only in establishing his own working conditions to DPG but also rightfully demand respect from his players and the staff and everyone around him. This, in conjunction with the increased budget that allows us to get good players and not scout in the depths of peewee basketball to find the next best things makes me think that we will be able to have a decent shot at playoffs next year.

Ataman with his enthusiasm and PAO fans with their love will set OAKA on fire. The only fear is DPG who could interfere too much. Cant say that Ataman is a great in game coach but he can build greatly working teams. I just dont know how this will be possible with the likes of Kostas and Papapetrou.

There is big issue with needing 6 greek players in the squad. Between us and Oly, there are not that many good available players to be honest. Greek basketball in shambles

I hoped PAO sign Nikos Rokgavopoulos but it didnt happen. In my Opinion Rokga is the future of the Greek bb
