I like what they did, they went out of their comfort zone and can't get rid of the feeling that by getting rid of De Colo, Rodriguez and Higgins they were the ones who actually decided to get fresh blood.
De Colo and Rodriguez maybe didn't like living in Moscow but De Colo was there for five years, so for five years he didn't like living in Moscow but surely liked the paychecks.

I think Itoudis together with CSKA management did a fine job, it will take them some time to glue but they have better chances of repeat with this roster then they would have with De Colo and Rodriguez.

I think this is a really interesting perspective. I posted a week ago that I thought Vatutin was trying to avoid a repeat of how they let their roster get too old back in 2010 and maybe that they learnt lessons from that.
It does look like they gambled a bit in terms of letting those three guys walk without having guaranteed replacements lined up. They still had Chacho under contract.

I dont think this roster has any chance of winning euroelague.In the end of the day all that matters is the individual quality.I struggle to find one CSKA player that i'd rank in top 10 of euroleague right now.Maybe Clyburn.Maybe.But then again maybe they are just..rebuilding sort of,which makes sense.All their contracts are for one year.

I can ensure you, that 99% of players would choose to play anywhere else then Russia if they would get the same amount of money, and in this season every single team's budget looks growing.

99%, really? Climate-wise - yes, there are better countries, but I do believe there are players who also want to play in one of the best teams in Europe and to win with it. You should read or listen what Hines says about living and playing in Moscow. For 6 years now.

CSKA backcourt is more then solid, better then Fener backcourt last season and James under Itoudis will be totaly different player then in Milano.

Moscow... One of the most beatiful capitals of the world. Nice people, most of them with European mentality, a place must see for most of the foreigners. Masses who likes sports, basketball is always one of the top... They have interest. Yes, their gym is maybe not as noisy as Maccabi, Crvena or Fener, but has always nice atmosphere. Last 24 years i am personally around this geography but never been in Moscow, but believe me all neighbours of Russia knows that; Moscow is a different world. So any player who visits or plays there, i am sure they are glad. Finally, of course money's playing a big role but it's also a nice experience and i believe these people are so happy. That's my point of view.

Giourkas Seitaridis (footballer) was transferred to Dinamo Moscow and had his pay go up 6-fold from 500.000K at Porto to 3 million a year but when he saw he could not drive his open roof Aston Martin's and Lamborghini's in Moscow after September he wanted out (after just 6 months). The Dinamo President said no and Seitaridis responded by saying "If you don't sell me, I will retire." (he was 25). After that he was sold to Athletico Madrid at the end of the season after 1 year to earn only half of his Dinamo salary. He was willing to drop 1,5 mil a season just to get away from the cold.

I didn't really know that basketball doesn't make it in the top-7 most popular sports, but as far as i know from my Russian friends, they have good interest... maybe just my friends, who knows oh yes, it's too cold and winter is too long in Moscow.
