I hope they get it.It certainly would be a little good for french bball.
"The worst part is wondering how you’ll find the strength tomorrow to go on doing what you did today and have been doing for much too long, where you’ll find the strength for all that stupid running around, those attempts to escape from crushing necessity, which always founder and serve only to convince you one more time that destiny is implacable, that every night will find you down and out, crushed by the dread of more and more sordid and insecure tomorrows.~Céline

Ten Countries Express Interest In Hosting 2013 Eurobasket
Following the decision of the Board of FIBA Europe to open the bidding process for EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women 2013, ten National Federations have expressed a written interest in staging the events.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Slovenia have brought forward a potential candidature for the EuroBasket.
Belarus, France, Serbia and Slovakia are interested in hosting EuroBasket Women.
All Federations who have submitted the letter of interest will receive by mid-June 2010 the EuroBasket 2013 or EuroBasket Women 2013 Bid Dossier and the Event Manual which outlines in detail all the conditions and the various aspects of the bid.
After studying the two documents the countries who will be interested in submitting a formal candidature will have to do so by 31st August 2010.
A FIBA Europe Evaluation Commission will then visit the bidding countries in September and October 2010. Following those visits the Commission will prepare a report for the Board of FIBA Europe.
Each candidate Federation will also be invited to make a presentation at the autumn session of the Board, which will decide on the organisers of EuroBasket 2013 and EuroBasket Women 2013.

An illegitimate Board ?
More teams = more games = less NBA players
Silly move. But it was expected since "small" european nations have managed to fire representatives from "strong" basketball countries out of the Board of FIBA Europe.
As you can see on this link, the new president of FIBA Europe, Olafur Rafnsson is from Island, while some members of the Board are coming from from very "small" basketball countries such as Gibraltar, Luxembourg, Malta.
It's a shame that countries such as Serbia, Russia, Greece and Turkey are not in the Board.
For instance, serbian candidate Predrag Danilovic (from NBA player) wasn't selected to be in. Curious, isn't it ?

Congrats for small basketball countries for killing basketball. In the past, FIBA allowed naturalized players in national teams with the aim of satisfying the complexes of the undersized Filipinos. This new decision will have the same effect. Making international competitions lose all its sense.
