[QF, Day1] Game 79/A: Spain - Slovenia

Spain playd basketball only for 20 min and still won by 22 points. Is Spain that good or Slovenia that bas ?.

Well seeing as how we barely won against Finland and lost to FYRM (LOL) I would say Slovenia is that bad.

Anyway expected loss, well we still managed to score 60 points wich is a small miracle in its self, God we suck sooo bad on offense its not even funny any more.

Spain is definitely beatable but just because Scariolo is a tard and their PG spot is very very weak. I would bet against them for the gold.

Guys, don't overestimate this Spain NT. It's really good, but its too dependent on its three leaders (Gasol brothers + magnificent JuanCar) to my liking. Bad day for at least both of those three (and such things happen though not that often, of course) - what would Spain NT do in this situation? I think that it can really struggle in this occasion cause it lacks real team play and it's not that rich in variety of offensive combinations (Scariolo's fault, by the way). So I don't feel that all that 'give 'em gold already' petitions are that indisputable
And Spain NT of 2006 was sooo much better than this one It was really a dream team of European basketball. So I think that it's possible that in the final Spain can face pretty close game and can even loose to its rival (be it France, Russia or Serbia), but, of course, it's possible also that it could be a blow-out like it was today. But I hope that first possibility is more realistic

They sure have 3 nearly unstoppable offensive talents. But all the other guys are also excellent players, just a bit easier to stop.

The other players are excellent but are almost not used, and Scariolo almost doesn't use his bench at all and his bench in tremendous tbh.

I totally agree with you. Also there is Rudy, Claderón and Felipe that are good, but Gasols Bro and Navarro are the key players. I really like San Emeterio, Llull, Sada and Rubio, and they do very well in ACB but here they are not playing good, perhaps theirs role is different and they dont adapt to it. Ibaka is irregular because the adaptation to the group and Claver is very good tecnically but he has not blood.

Yes, I agree. Yet, let them have the ball and a bit of rythm, and back again, they will be good.

Yeah but the problem is the bench hasn't played almost any meaningful minutes this tournament and if they are called to do so in the semis or in the final they are likely to chock, but it is hard to believe that both Gasol bros and JCN will suck it up in the same game.

This generation are by far the kings of BB of this decade (with permission of Usa, Argentina and Lithuania), 7 consecutive years playing at least HF in every international tournament, we are so happy with that... But, someday, in a near future it will come to the end, Navarro, Pau will be the end of this golden team.
I suppose the fans of the rest of countries will be willing to happen soon

I´m 45 years old, and since Moscow 80, I have followed all the international tournaments that have been played by our NT, and it´s a great pleasure to hear from everybody abroad the respect and fear you have when your teams have to play against us, it reminds me the 80s and 90s, when we had the same feelings of inferiority playing to Yugoslavia/USSR/Italy, and thank god:Now we are the "Yugoslavians"

Now we are on HF and everything coulod happen, it is very hard to beat Lithuania twice in a row, but, Who knows?

When Pau and JCN retires from the NT, the figure of the coach will be the most important ever in the team since 10 years ago.
Now the federation only has to sign a medium tier coasch, let Pau and JCN do his magic, and rooll over.
WHen they is not there, it will need a true, excellent coach to make this NT with stars of Marc Gasol, Ibaka and Rudy F. reach for medals.

On one hand, I'm very sad that this situation is gonna end is near, and Turkey, Serbia, France and other teams are gonna take over Spain in the coming years.
On the other hand, it will be exciting to this spanish team ends up with a possible starting five of: Marc-Ibaka-Emeterio-Rudy-Ricky
