With every respect to the fellow Turks, for me, the Turkish national team had done 2 mistakes that led to the premature exit from the EC:
1. Losing all games after the QFs in EC09. Eventually, Turkey ranked 8th, which led to being seeded in the 3rd tier this year due to its poor ranking in FIBA Europe! Should Turkey have ranked 5-6th, then they could have taken the place of Croatia or Russia in the first round, and avoid the E group of death...
2. The clearest difference of Turkey between WC10 & EC11 was the major fall of Tunceri's and Guler's performance. My opinion is that the performance of those two players was this year more closer to their actual potential. It's just in WC10 that they have really outdid themselves taking strength and confidence from the friendly crowd. Taking their high performance of last year for granted, has stripped off some of the solutions that were available last year and not this year.
3. Injuries to big men Kerem Gönlum and Semih Erden aswell. Without Enes Kanter we had no big man who could score the ball in the post. Ömer Asik is not a offensive weapon but good for those garbage points.
Great movie, you should watch it... Mickey Rourke's best performance, movie based on life of Charles Bukowski, the world's greatest drunkard, poet, and writer.
