Dont embarass yourself and compare your team with US, while you played with your best players they used to play with university players or with the american players playing in Europe .

You already proved me how much you know about basketball saying that Shaq is the only center better than Savic that Gasol has faced.

And what are you trying to say? that Yugoslavia has been better throughout the years than Spain? thats true ! i cant agree more with you but that wasnt the topic, so take your glorious past, ill live the present.

U r right US is trully the best team ever, althought they won less WC then Serbia. If they send their best players in Turkey WC we can all start betting on the second place team.Bravo for Spain Beijing Olympics finals game,u guys really put up a fight against the NBA stars.

Imagine US playing with only their caucasion (white) players. HAHAHA

U are one of the rare teams that doesn't have naturalized American players in ur NT.Bravo for that ! True national team.

Actually we are fighting against time...
Our biggest problem is that we don´t have some more talented Guards in the generation 88-91. Someone with huge offensive talent would help a lot. Perhaps Jeremic and Stojacic could turn to good players.

Players like Erceg, Dragicevic, Keselj, Bogdanovic and Milicic will be also an option. It would be great if they can step up this season and become better players.

Dont want to spoil your sense of pride, but Serbia shares SFRJ's achievements with Croatia, Slovenia,... Just as Russia shares SU's achievements with Lithuania, Latvia,... Imho, even if Serbia and Russia are official successor states, such bold statements as "we (as in Serbs) won" are simply not true.

They are the "future" after London 2012. But we have to know, that this current team (not all, but almost all) players will not only be part of the NT from now to 2012, they can also easily play until 2016.

A lot of work is in front of us. We will see how the team will play in Turkey 2010. I wouldn´t go so far and say we have to reach the 1/2 final. Our main goal should be the 1/4 final first and than see what we can do. But with every player getting better this season and perhaps the adition of Milicic and Rakocevic the chances for a medal would be nice.

But the most important thing is that Serbia is back on the map.

Those SFRJ medals are just history. Serbia has 8 medals since the independence.

back to topic...It will be hard to dominate again like we did from 1995-2002. First of all we are a country of just 7 million people... We will have to be satisfied with dominating the youth categories ( like we do since the independence) and being a top team in the seniors. Spain (50 million people) and the USA are too strong of opponents at this moment to speak of our dominance in the future, no matter how young and talented this team is. Even the USA cant dominate anymore as we saw in Beijing.

Rakocevics NT career is over. Next year he will be 32.

don't get botherd, they will always count that medals as theirs, rest of the world won't.

I thought this post was about the future, and not about the past. Obviously, Yugoslavia has a great history in basketball. Obviously Spain cannot compete with it, and is not even trying. Spain has been able to develop an incredible team in a country where basketball is unfortunately too much behind football, and you see the top teams with problems to fill the courts even we have one of the best basketball leagues in Europe.

As a national team, we have a worse future than Serbia, but who knows what will happen then. We don't have that many young talent, but there are players that develope laters and young stars that are not that good in the end. Anyway, I am really impressed with the dominance of young serbian teams, even more than with this tournament. Enjoy your success know and wait for tomorrow to see what happens.

I know Serbians are very happy right now, but I don't see very polite claiming that your team has the best future in Europe, that they are the best historycal team (not the topic) and that will be a treat in Turkey. Also, having that huge expectations could be bad for such a young group; they were good as the underdogs, let see if they can play with the pressure of being one of the favourites and other teams being well prepared against them. Team is too young now and could take them some years to develop to their full potential.

Yes we do share achievements with Croatia,Slovenia but most of those guys in those NTs were Serbs.Besides we have won gold medals without Slovenia,Croatia,Bosnia,Macedonia.

                                And now even without Montenegro.
