So status quo is JC is our NP, don't see things changing in the next 2 years.
And will just have to revaluate in late 2022, if it is enough for 2023 (depending on how good Kai and AJ are really)NBTC- Team New Zealand - Camp David: vision "To provide a basketball Pathway for Filipino Kids in NZ while building men of character and leadership. I can do all things ...

So what happens in transition is teams are unable in many instances to assign the SG(Webster bros) to our default SF in our case JC, because it is a cross switch.
In essence were using our strength, speed and advantage of two interchangeable players like JC and Dwight/Parks at the 2/3 position which is really essential.
Our problem before is we only have 1 of them Norwood on the court with the other being like Chan, or even Castro /Romeo, which is too small
BTW PG who is around 6ish and a good defender is also key, to increasing the competivness with all around length
Anyways it’s trivial, moot and academic at this point. Nowadays there’s a premium on switchability due to PnR/PnP being run heavily in the highest level.Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Clarkson should always play the guard position may it be the shooting guard or the point guard position. Clarkson playing small forward would be like the same as the 2014 & 2019 World Cup small ball.Kobe,Ramos and Lopez should be ready by that time to step up the plate, there seem to have no other choice.Remember when Parks was outmatched by bigger French and New Zealand players, that may happen again,no matter how you look at it in basketball you it's hard for a 6'4 agile player to guard a 6'7-6'8 player, otherwise we would still be using our 6'6 centers and 6'5 power forwards(in 2013 Asian qualifiers this might work but I doubt 10 years later with world class opponents).
They may even be tempted to get Perez and Bolick at the back court(yikes),although we have a bigger front court, our guards and small forward will be mismatched by bigger but quick and agile players.Last edited by Alex07; 08-08-2020, 01:08 PM."How small ball works: Tall Skilled beats small skilled every time, but small skilled beats tall stiff every time" - Kevin McHale

Actually it’s not a bad idea to have Perez and Bolick. For me, Perez is a must have for 2023. Let us not overreact them being a “bit” (it’s not like they’re 5’ 8”. Most WC teams have players of their size, some even smaller) undersized, what matters is what they could bring to the table. Proven na na kaya makipagsabayan ni Perez sa ganong level, Bolick too despite playing limited minutes. It would just be a matter of finding right combinations. Remember we have a plethora of decent sized wings to pair them up with.Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Our next team should not do the same mistakes like the past national teams, the next team should be complete(no injuries) and should have A very strong offensive and defensive lineup.Remember we have a very good offensive team in the Asian games but it lacks the bigs defensively,we have virtually no shot blockers and the Asian teams sensed that early, although we did our best and almost beat China.
Our next team should have a balance of height, skills, athleticism, tactics and team chemistry. We should at least limit the excuse of the other team is bigger than us,there will always be a bigger team but what we should have is a team which is competitive enough and as much as possible not vertically challenged. It's not as if all our 12 players could hit their head with the rim when they jump. But even a Spud Webb, as athletic as he is would still be having trouble with his size at game time."How small ball works: Tall Skilled beats small skilled every time, but small skilled beats tall stiff every time" - Kevin McHale

I know we had Castro and Lee playing together before but that is out of necessity and Clarkson,Chan(who I believe is 6'3-6'4) and Norwood were actually a very nice combination, with a very much conditioned Andray Blatche,we almost beat the best teams, probably partly because they didn't know what to expect and Blatche was also a bit unknown before as well, but our defense really worked that time, too bad we have very few options offensively.

But it looks like it will not push thru. They want to force us to treat JC as a NP.
It is ok. Atleast one spot for one Homegrown or Fil Foreign player

If Clarkson is granted local status, it will be a game changer. Ramos, Clarkson, McCullough, Edu, Sotto would be able to stand toe to toe with a lot of teams. Except a full-force USA or Spain, of course haha.
By the way, can someone fix the title of this thread? The grammar simply horrifies me. hahasigpic

Then obviously a more talented with 2 Imports(Cmac and JC) gilas will easily be a top 15(maybe top 10) country in the world in fiba basketball.
It will just boils down to coaching, system, and PREPERATION

Arguments like best wing scorer normally being the 2 (that’s gotta be Clarkson in this lineup, not Parks nor Dwight unless you consider them our best wing), the need to have a Pippen alongside JC’s MJ? So even if you are arguing JC to be the 3, your supporting statements are that of him being a 2.
