exactly, wasted exemption. and chot is also being silent on greg so it is obvious that chot is playing politics.

    • How close was Ben Mbala to being our naturalized player? Was there an attempt by SBP to start the process back then?

This, we need a pool of NPs, and if we are in budget conscious mode, FSAs would do, plus if said FSAs are already in the country before age 16, we could even lobby for FIBA exception.

sucks that SBP does not have any long term planning, just short term/mid term plans and a lot of quick fix solutions and knee jerk reactions.

Regarding Mbala, i think there was no move to get him naturalized, sayang, he was already in our backyard! same goes with the likes of Chabi Yo, Bright and Alfred Arogu, these guys could have been serviceable during the windows.

        • It was tactically immature for SBP to entertain the idea of hiring college level player as np...again in this level you get import level np to fill your need..

First jo for SBP is to remove RG on any selection and planning for SBP, medyo taliwas yun scouting niya ng player personnel and his scouting of opponents.. that SEA games lineup was a disaster waiting to happen..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

I nominate this guys as naturalize reserve candidates. The FSA are much easier to recruit, cheaper and always available:

            1. Malick Diouf of UP

            2. Henry Iloka of Vismin

            3. Justin Brownlee of Ginebra (short, but as reserve only and for other international games that we dont need much height)
Given how Brownlee has become a "resident PBA import", he's probably the best choice except for his age.

Less problem with call ups..maybe unless PBA does not allow him to play because PBA bans naturalized players and he isn't exactly and "import" if naturalized

Especially that SBP has no connections to his papers, He can't go to SBP for that...
i am in favor of an NP pool. but i dont think the politicians will prioritize these kinds of bills. with whats happening in the country, realistically we are looking at next year for them to naturalize someone. given Brownlee's age, are we going to naturalize him just for next year? maybe we need to look for someone younger so we have younger NP and ange and a few ineligible as part of the pool. maybe the young NP be an NBA caliber "import" that CCR seems to favor.

He also says that Brownlee could be another.

During the combine, Oliver is measured 6'7" without shoes but Id want to see him in action first before I judge. We have Kouame anyway if we really need more height.

                  • The current situation shows how dumb SBP officials can be. Why are they wasting time and money (you need to bribe congressmen for their signature) when there are a lot of ineligibles that would have an easier time getting passports. Sage Tolentino, Remy Martin, Ron Harper, Jr., Quentin Millora-Brown. Those are four quality players right there who could be our naturalized player options.

                        • The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is seeking the help of the Senate for the naturalization of Justin Brownlee and Cameron Oliver for the coming Fiba windows.
SBP president Al Panlilio hopes that the naturalization process could proceed as soon as possible so at least one player could join Gilas in the November window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asia qualifiers.

                          is this realistic?

We got two months till November. Maybe something can happen with Kume Eala onboard?

Which makes sense given that we play those games at home.
