    • Harper's envisioned NBA role is PF..
." Might he be a Robert Covington type? Harper doesn’t have as much size but is significantly more skilled as a prospect.

It’s not hard to see PJ Tucker comps coming into the conversation also. It took a number of years for the veteran forward to learn how to get his body to where he needed as to be able to become, initally, playable on defense and, later, one of the best defenders in the league.

In reality, there are a number of players in the league in the 6’5 range that reliably log minutes at the power forward position.

In college he played effectively as a PF"

Our 2022 NBA Draft scouting report series rolls on with a look at Ron Harper Jr. out of Rutgers. For a draft prospect not projected to be picked until the latter part of the second round, Ron...

Ron Harper Jr was supposed to get a passport but the process was too long/time consuming so he focused on his high school career. Sad. If only we had Fil Am Nation Select at the time.

        • Thanks for the info so Ron Jr mom was born in the Philippines and moved to US when 7 yrs old, with facilitation assistance very doable to get him a passport in 6 months.
I'm surprise the SBP isn't pursuing this unless they already are . Especially if he makes the NBA

Note Harper Jr insurance will be much lower than Clarkson, and to me Clarkson does not fill a significant position of need and it's a one off . After 2023 Clarkson is not realistic, while Harper Jr litterarally can play for us for 3 World cups easily

Not too many 6'5 bigs in the NBA. Tucker is an exception and he is also 6'6.

Well the fact that he is a serious draft prospect envisioned to play a.lot PF in the NBA , (can realistically get a passport without congress process), should be a very effective combo forward at FIBA level especially vs teams we need to beat at world level (2nd tier )to advance further

Both Chot and Tab historically tap these type of 4s for their teams. Tab -Verano, Koon, Navarro, Thirdy, Pero , Boucher.
              Chot- Ping , RDO

Note there not many 6'9 NBA players have a standing reach of 8'9.5 ". So Harper is effectively bigger than them for what matters. To me in Gilas context not only wi Harper Jr play PF, but he is also our most capable back up center to Kai. ( I'm serious) and our best SF as well. That's filling a lot of roles

Harper measured weirdly at the combine. 6'4" without shoes but check out that wingspan. PF is possible I guess with the changing game. Not good vs old school fours but in a modern game wherein old school fours are now fives, I could see Harper thriving. That body fat though needs to change..

                • SBP has no vision and incompetent. They did not have the foresight to see that we need back up naturalize players even if its not a super star, at least with decent game and height. Now we have problems with our naturalize if one gets injured or not available.

I nominate this guys as naturalize reserve candidates. The FSA are much easier to recruit, cheaper and always available:

                  1. Malick Diouf of UP

                  2. Henry Iloka of Vismin

                  3. Justin Brownlee of Ginebra (short, but as reserve only and for other international games that we dont need much height)

that's why a 6'6/6'7 draymond green is being slotted at 4 or even 5 - because he has a very long wingspan and a high standing reach.

                            • He can be our backup naturalize center if Kouame is still injured. Dapat 2-3 ang naturalized players natin para kung injured or hinde available meron kaagad na kapalit

seriously, we're wasting the FIBA exception given to greg by blackballing him
