        • The thing here is that if we want to naturalize someone, the blueprint is still the length, who had a decent work rate in the Rebounding and FT dept. that could translate into a decent mid-range game as well. Even though we already had Kai, AJ and AK37, the reality still remains, that we really need to shore up our 4 and 5 position up to the 2nd unit if we want a fighting chance in the medal round moving forward. With the influx of younger guys locally and abroad, our future 1,2 and 3 position are (somehow) already secured for the meantime. Lastly, that prospect must had that locker room attitude ala Udonis Haslem who motivates his teammate to no end in and out the court.

Based on my own opinion. Our next Naturalized Player ( Maybe after JC/AK era) should have the following:

            1. Talent - Una pa rin sa akin to. Even if some here will argue " fit over talent". And it is not like our locals generally are talented enough to match up with the top 5 teams in the world, that's why I emphasize talent in having a naturalized player. That his presence alone can level up our quality much higher. Andray Blatche did that in 2014.

            2. Height and Length - Self Explanatory.

            3. Fit - Of course after talent, you will consider fit, if his talent mixed well and seemlessly with our system and local players.

            4. Attitude and Patriotism - Ofc, we are literally giving him a Filipino Citizenship. He must be a proud Filipino. As for attitude, he should be the glue guy, and not the toxic guy. He should be one of the (if not the main) leaders in the team.

I think I forgetting a 1 thing or two. But those are the main things I am looking for an NP if I am the one who will evaluate

you could also add age in your criteria (i.e. Ange's age is actually ideal, early 20s) , so that Gilas will benefit from his services for more than a decade.

Yeah. I forgot. Age will be my 5th criteria

                • How about a very crafty (NBA/G-League/Euroleague experienced) combo guard which is tall enough by PHL standards (above 6'2")? We now have a lot of tall kids capable of playing the 3, 4, and 5 positions in the international games these days, so why not shore up the guard position with a Stanley-Pringle-on-steroids type of player?

Because none of our new generation of tall kids are proven on the international stage.

Outside Kouame and Kai, who else is a legitimate 6'10+ with skills as a 5? There's only Geo Chiu and Edu. Tamayo, Baltazar, Cortez, Cariño, and Quiambao are more of 3-4 tweeners.

While the game has drastically changed to favour smaller players, you still need a reliable big to get the job done. Look at the Bulls and the Nuggets. Vucevic and Jokic are both very crucial to their team's playbook.

Players like Kai aren't always around each generation. Hence, the center position still makes the most sense to find a naturalized player.
                    GILAS WISHLIST:
                    6'8 Pingris

Good points. But I believe the big men numbers will continue to increase in the next 5 years and by then, our current Gilas 4's and 5's will be more developed or entering their prime years, that's why the bigs spots aren't an area of concern for now and in the foreseeable future, at least from what I see. Unless those guys you mentioned suffer major injuries or be trapped playing for SMC teams (knock on the wood for both), then I agree, naturalization should be for PF/C spots.

                      • I’ve been observing several guys at Division 1 and one of the dudes that impress me is the kid from Grand Rapid, Michigan named Marcus Bingham, Jr., now currently playing for the Michigan State University, the thing about his current stats while playing for the Spartans is his decent work rate on the following department which is critical for me as a Gilas fan who are expecting that our future naturalize guy had this attributes aside from age and length. I’m talking about the 2021-22 season: FT 75%; FG% 59.1 %; 8 RPG and 3 BPG, So far I haven’t read any info if this lad already plays for any FIBA sanctioned tourney.

Well, sucks for him. He could be a good NP prospect. Dunno how he'd come back.

Vonleh is a bust. And Dakari Johnson probably won't fit this team

dakari johnson is a traditional, not very mobile big. i remember christian wood being mentioned in this forum a few years ago before he became a legit star, he would've been perfect for us
