He's actually a good 3 points shooter, and I like the attitude of Kelly Williams i think he's going to be the leader of the Philippine Redeem team in 2009 FIBA Asia Championship because of his great performance in the last international competition.

If Kelly will be consistent on his Outside Shooting then he would be a very great player, with his height, physical ability, his defense and an improve offense, he could very well win another MVP.

Organizers originally meant it to be an exhibition match and a "friendly game" between the Sta. Lucia Realtors from the Philippine Basketball Association and the Al Ahli Basketball Club of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates over the weekend. The friendly game, however, turned sour and ended in a rumble.

The Al Ahli squad was made up of a coach and reinforcements from the United States. One of them was 6'9" Corsley Edwards who once suited up for the New Orleans Hornets in the National Basketball Association.

The Dubai-based team led by its American imports showed prowess in the court during the first and second quarters.

The third quarter, however, saw Sta. Lucia catching up. Players turned physical against one another at this point on.

In one play, an American import showed untoward aggresiveness against the Realtors' Joseph Yeo after the Filipino fouled him.

Later, Edwards landed a foot on Sta. Lucia's Denok Miranda after performing a dunk. This happened before the American let go of the ring.

Howls filled the court as Dennis Espino of the Realtors was levied a penalty for a hard foul.

Tension remained in the air until another hard foul took place.

In the play that followed, Miranda was elbowed by an Al Ahli player. Then, the riot started.

Sta. Lucia coach and the American mentor of the opposing team were not spared because they too traded barbs.

Dubai police and locals, however, immediately pacified the two squads.

In the end, policemen were able to stand between the groups.

Authorities decided to cancel the game.

Filipino fans, meanwhile, had no choice but to come down to the court and have their autographs signed by the visiting PBA players.

The Sta. Lucia team apologized to fans for the outcome of the game.

"Nakakahiya nga sa fans, grabe rin kasi silang mang ano eh, pikon eh, pikon sila,” he said.

Kelly Williams, the Realtors' American import, meanwhile, had this to say: “Its what hppens, I think they started to get scared.”

For Sta. Lucia team manager Buddy Encarnado, said that he still believes that what happened was a friendly game following the Realtors' Middle East tour of Bahrain, Qatar and the UEA for exhibition matches.

DOHA, Qatar – It was a bitter sweet learning experience from the Philippine Cup champion Sta. Lucia Realtors.

The Realtors, watched by hundred overseas Filipino workers, fought gallantly before bowing to the towering Qatar National squad twice recently here at the Doha Al Gharaffa Stadium.

Despite the losses, head coach Boyet Fernandez of Sta. Lucia thanked the Qatar National team for giving his team a good learning experience that will enhance them for the coming 34th PBA Philippine Cup season.

“Qatar is now one of the best teams in Asia. They gave us a good learning experience,” said Sta. Lucia coach Boyet Fernandez. “I also want to thank the Filipino crowd here who supported and cheered for us.”

The Qatar team scored a 59-48 victory in the first game and repeated with a narrow 70-67 win in the second of the two-game goodwill series watched by a big OFW crowd.

“We can use this experience when we go home and start defending our title,” said Fernandez. “Anyway, this is really memorable for all of us. The Filipino crowd here is very amazing.”

The Sta. Lucia Realtors were swept by the Qataris after pulling off a two-game sweep of their own in the Bahrain stop of their Gulf tour (See story: Sta. Lucia electrifies Pinoy in Bahrain) serving as part of their preparation for the coming PBA season.

The reigning PBA All-Filipino champions end their tour with a game in Dubai tonight.

No Philippine team in recent memory has won here. Teams which had come here and also beaten by the Qatar national teams include a PBL selection coached by Junel Baculi, Red Bull, the SMC-RP Team and UAAP champion La Salle.

“Good defense won the first game for Qatar,” said Joseph Yeo, also part of the SMC-RP team that played here in 2005.

“We lost the second game on breaks and bad calls,” said Ryan Reyes, the most consistent Realtor in the series, averaging 9.5 points.

Marlou Aquino, Dennis Espino and Paolo Mendoza played exceptionally well in both games but their efforts were not enough to save the Realtors from beaten twice by the Qataris, led by a number of naturalized African players.

Kelly Williams treated the crowd with his impressive highlight plays.
